Buongiorno from the heart of Rome! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a fresh dose of #PinkTutuRome! This week, my dancing feet have been twirling through the streets of the Eternal City, and let me tell you, it's been nothing short of magical. This week’s outfit is, of course, a bubblegum pink tulle tutu, with a splash of turquoise from a floral print top. A touch of Italian elegance, I think you’ll agree.
Before we delve into all the gorgeousness Rome has to offer, let’s rewind a bit. It’s hard to believe, but I actually just arrived from Derbyshire, travelling overnight by train – one of my absolute favourite ways to travel! There's something so romantic about waking up to a new vista outside the window. I even managed to fit in a bit of a ballet barre routine in the train’s first class compartment. Just me, my tiny portable barre, and a carriage full of amused and mildly confused commuters. (Did I mention how much I love to push boundaries?!).
Roman Rendezvous
Now, back to Rome! For the first few days I've been exploring, and of course, living for every Instagrammable moment! I took a picture in front of the Colosseum yesterday, spinning a little pirouette to add some pink magic to the ancient wonder. I have to say, this tutu is really a conversation starter! I had so many locals smiling and asking questions. It was truly inspiring, and it even inspired me to start the hashtag #pinktutuitaly for my Roman adventures. I can’t wait to see you guys join in!
Rome is also where I saw one of the most breathtaking ballet performances I've ever seen! Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, that magnificent old theatre, simply stole my heart. A breathtaking ballet rendition of "Giselle," so beautifully staged, it felt like dancing under a dream-like sky. The choreography was exquisite, and the dancers' movements felt as graceful as swallows in flight. My favourite part, of course, was the finale. Imagine a breathtaking spectacle with dancers gracefully twirling across the stage with perfectly-coordinated steps. Just like a fairytale!
Speaking of graceful, my first stop after the performance was the exquisite "Atelier della Scarpa" a local cobbler that's a dream come true for any ballerina. Just picture it - racks and racks of gorgeous shoes, crafted with exquisite detail, with styles both traditional and modern. I came home with a pair of pointe shoes - hand-painted with a beautiful pink and silver design.
Foodie Fun
Oh, and the food! Buonissimo. Every meal here feels like a symphony of taste and texture. From melt-in-your-mouth gelato in Piazza Navona (strawberry with pistachio is my new favourite!), to hearty bowls of pasta al pomodoro in a quaint little trattoria tucked away on a cobblestone street, I’m truly embracing the dolce vita. Let’s not forget about the delectable cannoli. (This might become my new post-performance dessert routine!)
Style Steals & Shoppable Gems
Now, no trip to Rome is complete without some fabulous fashion finds! From designer boutiques in the Via Condotti to the bustling, vibrant atmosphere of the Campo de’ Fiori market, Rome is a true shopper’s paradise. This weekend, I found the most darling shop tucked away on a cobblestone street - it’s filled with gorgeous pink silk scarves and jewelry. This one is definitely going straight to my blog! My bag's bursting with colourful souvenirs, handmade jewelry, and vintage fabrics I’ll turn into bespoke ballet-inspired creations back home. You can definitely expect a fashion-forward #pinktuturhome post this weekend, so stay tuned.

Of course, Rome’s just the beginning! There’s so much more to discover in this city - more historic sites, artistic treasures, and cultural adventures waiting around every corner! I’ve been brainstorming ideas for my upcoming #PinkTutuRome blog posts - I’m thinking maybe a day trip to the Roman Forum or even a pink-themed cooking class? It's all in the works!
