Hello my gorgeous Pink Tutu Posse! It's Emma here, signing in live from Rome! 🙋♀️ Today, Wednesday 5th October, marks the grand launch of my Rome Blog series, post number 1426 (who's counting?! 🤪). Buckle up buttercups, because this is going to be one fabulously pink, twirling, and delicious journey!
Firstly, let me say: Italy has been absolutely divine! This is not my first trip here (I am a total travel addict, after all!) but this time, it feels even more magical, especially as it's all about embracing those girly pink tutu vibes in the City of Seven Hills! 💕
Now, before we get lost in the cobbled alleyways and Roman gelato delights, I have to give a big shoutout to my dear Derbyshire friends! You've all been so incredibly supportive, always cheering me on with my ballet performances, which (fun fact!), is what funds all my travels. I truly wouldn't be here twirling around in my favourite pink tutu without you. 🥰
Speaking of twirling, did I mention how obsessed I am with the Italian fashion scene? 🤯 Rome is overflowing with fabulous boutiques, so naturally, I had to squeeze in a little retail therapy between all the sightseeing. Ciao, Prada! I even found the most exquisite blush pink ballet flats – the perfect companion for my tour of the Vatican City, where the intricate architecture almost made me think I'd stepped into a theatrical set!
Now, let me tell you a little bit about my week in Rome so far!
Day One: A Grand Arrival
I arrived at Rome Termini Station – oh, the sheer joy of a train journey! I feel like there's so much more romance in taking the train. The first thing I did upon arriving? Of course, I put on my signature pink tutu! You know how much I love the power of a statement piece.
And the train? Oh, my word! Talk about beautiful, ornate interiors. This was not just transport, it was a grand performance!
And then, my very first encounter with the beauty of Rome. Imagine my excitement when I stepped out of the station and into this city filled with ancient history! My Instagram was overflowing with photos - so much of it I haven't shared yet.
I made my way to my hotel. I have to say, everything in Rome just seems a little more magical. And the hotel room? Fabulous!
After a much-needed power nap, I went out to find that iconic Roman piazza. It was absolutely bursting with life!
For dinner, I decided to dine on the quintessential Italian dish: pasta. Oh, the flavours! So delicate, so fresh, so unbelievably delicious!
Day Two: History Meets Fashion
For day two, I planned to combine my love for ballet and fashion. First, I embarked on a morning trip to the Vatican City, a beautiful symphony of ancient grandeur and breathtaking architecture. The Vatican Museums? So. Many. Amazing. Things. Honestly, it's impossible to even start to describe. I walked through vast galleries filled with Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces and the Sistine Chapel was truly mind-blowing! All that history? Pure ballet inspiration.
Afterwards, it was straight to the shops for a little fashion feast! Now, don't even get me started on the incredible selection of clothing. My favourite discovery? A little vintage shop overflowing with antique lace and beautiful pastel-coloured silk. Ciao, darling dresses, I'm so ready for you! You can definitely expect a post with my shopping hauls soon.
Day Three: Indulging in Roman Delights
After a leisurely breakfast at a cute café, it was off to explore the Colosseum. I can't believe this incredible arena stood there for over two thousand years. I imagined gladiators battling it out in their theatrical arena - what a performance that must have been! I think this was probably the place that had the most powerful impact on me in all of Rome, maybe because it feels like a timeless and powerful legacy, as a kind of theater from so long ago.
The city itself, the Roman Empire, it was all such a fascinating look back in time.
It would be a travesty not to try some traditional Roman cuisine, and believe me, it did not disappoint! From melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella to the perfect carbonara (don’t even get me started on how yummy this is), every bite was an absolute explosion of flavour. Oh, and did I mention the creamy gelato? Absolutely divine! I mean, can a trip to Italy ever really be complete without some gelato?
Day Four: A Night at the Opera
Tonight, my friends, is all about the magic of opera! 🎻🎶 I'm beyond excited for a night at the Opera di Roma. Imagine this: elegant red velvet seats, shimmering chandeliers, and the most captivating voices soaring through the grand auditorium. Talk about the ultimate dress-up opportunity, right? Of course, I will be twirling in my most sparkly tutu, paying tribute to the graceful art of ballet and performance. I will be sharing a review of the performance tomorrow - maybe you guys can come with me!
Day Five: The Trevi Fountain - The Perfect Finish
So, today, I will be finishing off the blog with a walk around the historic centre of Rome, ending at the iconic Trevi Fountain. This place truly lives up to its reputation - such incredible detail, so beautiful, and of course, I'm definitely throwing a coin in for good luck, naturally. And maybe a second coin for good measure!
I will have to keep you posted on how many pennies are left in my bag by the end of my trip!
