Pink Tutu Rome: #1425 - La Dolce Vita in Pink! 🩰🇮🇹
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! I'm back with a delightful dose of la dolce vita, all wrapped up in a pretty pink bow. As I'm sure you know, my darling readers, this week saw me hopping onto a train (with a twinkle in my eye and my trusty travel tutu) to explore the Eternal City, and let me tell you, Rome truly did live up to its name.
I landed (well, arrived!) in the heart of the city, feeling the buzz of the Piazza Navona with a distinct air of excitement. And for once, I actually didn’t feel out of place wearing my tutu in this city of breathtaking architecture! The locals are so stylish, they practically ooze la dolce vita. I even spotted a little boy wearing a bright yellow tutu - definitely a fellow pink tutu enthusiast in the making!
Speaking of style, I just had to tell you all about this fabulous boutique I stumbled upon tucked away in a narrow side street off Via dei Condotti. Let’s just say my inner fashionista went completely wild. I practically danced (not in the literal sense – that tutu is for show, darlings, not dancing!) with glee, surrounded by all those beautiful silks, leathers and delicate fabrics. And guess what? I found the perfect pink top, perfect for twirling under the Colosseum's shadow, of course!
But back to the adventures! Oh, darlings, let me tell you about the magic of exploring the Roman Forum by day! The grandeur of those ancient ruins, the warm Roman sun warming my face… and I'll never forget those panoramic views of the city! And later, strolling through Trastevere under a sky full of twinkling stars, hand in hand with a charming gelato-wielding Italian gentleman…sigh! Romance truly is in the air.
Now, for a spot of cultural immersion…
The other day I treated myself to a mesmerising ballet performance at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. It was breathtaking – think stunning costumes, intricate choreography and a stage lit with such exquisite detail. I found myself totally enthralled. It’s a joy seeing ballet in such a vibrant setting, don’t you think?
And before you think I was only indulging in fancy things, let me assure you: my trip involved some of the best gelato (especially the pistachio flavour, darling, it’s to die for) and authentic pizza. My, how they do pizza in Rome. Every slice was perfection! I found a darling little hole-in-the-wall trattoria nestled amongst the cobblestones, where I swooned over my pizza, tucked away in a quiet corner like a true ballerina after a demanding performance!
Of course, no visit to Rome would be complete without a trip to the Vatican, the epicenter of the Catholic world! The Sistine Chapel… those incredible frescoes...simply magnificent. It's impossible to not feel awe-struck standing in the presence of such incredible artistry. The city’s history just breathes. You can feel it in every brick, every cobblestone, even in the whispers of the wind.
However, as a girl who adores all things pink and fabulous, my favourite find was this divine pink shop near the Pantheon. They have everything in pink. Pink shoes, pink handbags, even pink spaghetti (who knew?). I practically pirouetted into the store, giggling with delight. And of course, I left with a fabulous pink clutch – a perfect accessory for my upcoming Venetian getaway (watch out Venice, you’re next on the Pink Tutu list!).
This trip was truly a ballet in itself, darlings: a graceful whirl through ancient history, art, food and, most importantly, the beautiful essence of Italy! So if you're planning your next trip, consider a little dose of la dolce vita.
Until next week, darlings, remember, life is too short to be anything but fabulous!
And just as a little treat:
This Wednesday, 28th September:
* A local crafts fair in Trastevere where you might find a little pink treasure or two!
* A ballet masterclass for those wanting to brush up on their pliés and arabesques - it’s located near the Villa Borghese gardens.
Oh, and don’t forget, Pink Tutu followers get 10% off at all ballet shops in Rome this week, simply mention you saw the discount on my blog! Now go on, my dears, embrace your inner diva and embrace all the beautiful pinkness the world has to offer!
