Buongiorno, my dearest Tutu-ettes! It's me, Emma, your resident Pink Tutu aficionado, back from the dazzling, captivating, and absolutely delicious streets of Rome!
The train journey down from Derbyshire was an absolute dream. I settled in with a cup of Earl Grey and a stack of Italian Vogue magazines, soaking in the views of rolling Tuscan hills and dreaming of the pasta that awaited me in the Eternal City. Oh, the joys of train travel! I wouldn't have it any other way. It's so relaxing to sit back, watch the world go by, and dream of the adventures to come.
Now, let's talk Rome! Honestly, it was like stepping into a technicolour fairytale. From the majestic Colosseum to the stunning fountains of Trevi and the Piazza Navona, it's a visual feast at every turn. Every alleyway seems to hold a secret – a hidden trattoria with the most divine smells wafting out, or a quirky boutique overflowing with treasures. And the architecture? Absolutely breathtaking! Imagine a backdrop of stunning Renaissance and Baroque structures, layered with ivy and the most exquisite details. It's like a living history lesson, infused with beauty.
Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without indulging in the food! I mean, let's be honest, who can resist the siren call of pasta carbonara, fresh mozzarella, and delicious gelato? Just walking through the bustling markets, with their vibrantly coloured stalls piled high with the freshest produce, makes your taste buds sing. Oh, and don't even get me started on the coffee. A perfect cappuccino with a cloud of foam on top is pure heaven. It's truly an olfactory delight - every corner whispers of flavours, textures, and aromas, an absolute delight!
But you know what's the best part? Rome is for the taking. It's a city that thrives on its vibrancy and passion. And, let me tell you, this city embraces pink! Think cascading floral arrangements, beautiful gelato shops with vibrant walls, and even some Pink Tutu-clad fashionistas strolling through the ancient streets!
What Did I Do Today?
Today was all about a delightful whirlwind of exploration and adventure! We started off with a visit to the Trevi Fountain - an absolute masterpiece, especially with its captivating reflections of the ancient city surrounding it. I even found a corner with a charming street musician and lost myself in his beautiful melody. His music made my heart sing!
Next up was a leisurely stroll through Piazza Navona, taking in the buzzing atmosphere and the artistry of the street performers. You can't go to Rome without finding the perfect place to relax and simply enjoy people-watching. It was truly mesmerising to see all the different colours, textures and cultures that this beautiful city embraces.
For a lunch stop, we headed to the most charming Trattoria in a hidden corner. They served us a divine selection of classic Italian pasta dishes – and a hefty glass of red wine, of course! I confess, the carbonara was divine! I couldn’t resist trying their selection of decadent desserts - I’m a sucker for a slice of tiramisu, especially with a cappuccino on the side.
Our afternoon was filled with shopping for some fab finds in the bustling markets. They are a haven for vintage treasures and hand-crafted gifts. I must admit I've found the perfect souvenir - a vintage pink beret that will go perfectly with my pink tutu collection back home. And oh, I may or may not have purchased a little pair of glittery Roman sandals too… They just beckoned to me!
Tonight we're off to see a magnificent performance by the Teatro dell'Opera. I'm particularly excited for this one - they're putting on an elaborate ballet production, "La Bella Addormentata", that promises to be an incredible spectacle. And the highlight of the evening? It just so happens that I am actually going to be performing a special little piece! A ballet lover, as you know, has to get involved somehow!
And wouldn't you know it, even in Rome, I spotted a couple of fellow Pink Tutu enthusiasts dancing through the piazzas and in the markets, radiating the joy and confidence of a true Pink Tutu sister. They're clearly on their own pink tutu adventures in the City of Love.
Oh, the amazing people I'm meeting along this journey! I can already tell, this is going to be one of my favourite Tutu-filled adventures.
