Pink Tutu Rome: Week 1447 - Buongiorno Bella Roma!
Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu travel adventure! This week, I'm whisking you away to the Eternal City, the dazzling Rome!
The journey began in Derbyshire, where I swapped my comfy ballet shoes for a pair of pristine white trainers and a suitcase overflowing with pink tutus. I'm nothing if not prepared! This week's train ride to Rome was a dream - smooth, serene, and a perfect opportunity to plan my Roman itinerary. (I just love travelling by train - it's so elegant, and I can wear my most extravagant tutu without any stares!). I filled my little notebook with ideas for shopping, shows, and, of course, the iconic landmarks that call Rome home.
Rome's warm embrace enveloped me the minute I stepped off the train. The air was buzzing with excitement - motorbikes whizzing past, people chatting, laughter spilling from cafes. The energy was electric, and I knew this trip was going to be a good one.
First stop, my pink paradise - a little boutique just a hop, skip and a jump from Termini station. My eyes twinkled with delight at the array of pastel pink blouses, fluffy tutus in every shade imaginable, and shoes that were simply divine. I snagged myself a beautiful pair of cherry blossom pink ballet flats - perfect for exploring the cobbled streets of Rome. (Remember, girls, you never need an excuse for a new pair of shoes, especially not when they're pink!)
Speaking of pink, the colour seemed to follow me wherever I went! I spotted the most charming rose garden tucked away in the heart of the city - it felt like a scene from a fairytale! My fellow tutudresses - if you're planning a trip to Rome, I urge you to find this hidden gem.
And speaking of tutus... the highlight of my Roman adventure was undoubtedly the show at the Teatro dell'Opera. I'm talking about tutus the size of the Colosseum (well, almost!). The ballerinas were graceful, elegant, and their leaps were like birds soaring through the air. The whole evening was a sensory delight. (Of course, I took inspiration for my own upcoming performances, always trying to push my own boundaries).
Rome is not all tutus and tiaras, however. The ancient history of the city fascinated me! I was completely awestruck by the sheer grandeur of the Colosseum, picturing gladiators and roaring crowds in the ancient arenas. (There's something truly special about stepping into the past). I wandered through the Roman Forum, marveling at the marble ruins and envisioning bustling Roman life centuries ago.
My Rome adventure also wouldn't have been complete without sampling the delicious cuisine. I devoured steaming plates of pasta, the taste exploding on my taste buds - the freshest tomatoes, the richest cheese, and the most heavenly sauce. I sipped on rich espresso and discovered hidden gem bakeries brimming with mouth-watering treats. And I couldn't leave Rome without a little taste of the local gelato, the creamy, fruity heaven melting in my mouth.
This week in Rome, I've fallen head over heels with its charm, its vibrancy, and, of course, its stunning architecture. Every corner was a story waiting to be unfolded. I can't wait to come back and discover more.
Oh, and let's not forget the people of Rome! So friendly, so full of life and energy, always willing to lend a helping hand or a warm smile. They've definitely lived up to their reputation as the warm heart of Italy.
*If you're considering a trip to Rome, do it! *But I do suggest making it pink.
