Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! šŸ©°šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹

#PinkTutuRome #1451

Ciao bella! Itā€™s Wednesday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome blog post! I'm currently sitting in the cutest little cafĆ©, overlooking the Colosseum - yes, THE Colosseum! - and enjoying a delicious cappuccino. The sun is shining, the birds are singing (and the odd Vespa whizzing past), and Iā€™m wearing a brand-new pink tulle skirt that I picked up just this morning in a little boutique on Via Condotti (more on that later, darlings!).

This week, I've been embracing the magic of Rome - the history, the food, the culture... itā€™s all just breathtaking! I have a bit of a confession to make, though. When I arrived, I was slightly intimidated by Rome. You know how it is - the history, the size, the sheer beauty of it all, it can be a bit overwhelming! But let me tell you, Rome has truly stolen my heart. It's so full of life, and the people are incredibly welcoming and warm. Theyā€™ve all taken to my pink tutu, you see. No judgment whatsoever, not even a flicker of an eyebrow (except maybe from one particularly stern looking guard at the Trevi Fountain who kept eyeing me suspiciously while I was throwing in my coins for good luck - but hey, even a pink tutu wearing ballerina deserves good luck, right?).

Anyway, back to the adventures! Since last Wednesday, Iā€™ve been on quite the whirlwind tour of the city. You see, the most delightful thing about traveling by train is that you get to experience so much of the beauty of a place, in a way you just canā€™t from a plane window. From Derbyshire to Rome, the scenery was breathtaking. I actually managed to catch a show in Frankfurt, (more about that in a separate post later, darling!), so it took a bit longer than anticipated, but let me tell you, the sights out the window as we zipped across the European landscape made it absolutely worth it.

Now, to the real reason youā€™re here, you wonderful Pink Tutu fans, I've compiled a list of everything amazing I've seen and done so far in the Eternal City. I know, I know, youā€™re already saying ā€œPink Tutu, stop bragging! But believe me, the adventures were just TOO much not to share!

Monday: First things first - exploring the Pantheon! Oh. My. Goodness! It truly is awe-inspiring - just imagine that huge open roof, and the sense of history and beauty that envelopes you as you stand inside, surrounded by all the wonders of ancient Roman art. I twirled for a full minute beneath the dome, and you know what, I donā€™t care what anybody else thinks - Itā€™s a magnificent place to twirl! šŸ©°

Tuesday: A morning coffee with a view! Who needs a Romeo and Juliet balcony when you have the entire cityscape to admire? We went to the Janiculum Hill and had coffee while admiring the view of the Vatican and the city - perfect morning ritual! Then in the afternoon, it was off to explore Trastevere! This part of the city just bursts with charm - adorable little shops, stunning architecture, and a relaxed vibe that really captures the essence of Rome. It also provided a whole new range of possibilities for my twirling escapades - it seems a few pigeons even joined me!

Wednesday: The day of the Roman Forum, and itā€™s absolutely lived up to its billing. Walking amongst the ruins, imagining the crowds of gladiators and emperors - It was like stepping back in time. The Roman Forum is HUGE and the day felt very educational. I have so much more research to do on the history, it is a very inspiring and intriguing place. For me, this is the absolute beauty of traveling: learning about the world around me.

Thursday: Oh my gosh! Did you know Rome has a stunning Botanical Garden, Villa Borghese? Honestly, this is where my inner ballerina truly bloomed! The Garden was simply magnificent, and full of serene hidden spots and pathways perfect for ballet practice. Itā€™s hard to choose between my favorite spots in the park: The lovely terrace overlooking the city, the Secret Fountain, or the charming ā€œThe Secret Garden,ā€ ( which felt just like a magical setting from a fairy tale) - all absolute must-sees. I spent a solid hour practicing there, lost in the world of graceful leaps and twirls, the only witnesses to my joyful dance the flowers and the ancient trees.

Friday: Shopping! What else? Okay, I know we all like to pretend that a trip to Rome is purely about the historical landmarks, and the breathtaking scenery... but a bit of fashion retail therapy is always good for the soul. I found the cutest little boutique tucked away on Via Condotti - I was so surprised because it didnā€™t look like much from the outside. They have this gorgeous little storefront window display full of colorful floral dresses, lace skirts, and glittery ballet shoes! I walked in and felt as if I'd walked straight into my very own ballet dreams. (Just a tip, darling, remember, this is Rome, so no sales taxes... just a girl in a pink tutu and a whole wardrobeā€™s worth of potential purchases). šŸ©°

Saturday: My Saturday was one for the books, darlings! The Opera House! It was even more gorgeous than I'd imagined, so extravagant, so beautiful - and the opera itself, "Carmen", it was breathtaking! And for you theatre buffs, thereā€™s another magical venue called the Teatro dellā€™Opera, home to the Opera House's incredible theatre season. But the best part of my Saturday - a wonderful dance class I took near the Trevi fountain with some local Italian dancers! It was a perfect way to explore the Italian style of ballet - such fluid and graceful moves! We even twirled around the fountain together at the end! Letā€™s just say the Roman fountains have had quite a few twirls in their history by now.

Sunday: And last but not least, a final journey to the Vatican! St. Peter's Square is stunning - Iā€™m not Catholic myself, but there is no denying that the architecture and sense of peace there are beyond words! We spent hours walking through the museums and churches and seeing the beautiful paintings - itā€™s like the whole world of Renaissance art was painted onto these walls. And naturally, there was more twirling!

Rome, youā€™ve stolen my heart, my darling! Every moment has been an absolute joy, Every turn I take, a new beautiful discovery, a new picturesque piazza to twirl in! I already canā€™t wait to come back! Until next week, dear Pink Tutu fans - I'm off to find some more Roman inspiration! I promise Iā€™ll be back next Wednesday, for another installment of my Roman adventure - see you then!

Lots of Love,

Emma
