#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2023-04-19 exploring Rome Italy

Buongiorno, darlings!

It's Wednesday, and that means another thrilling chapter in my Pink Tutu Travels is unfolding! This week, I'm beaming back at you from the heart of Rome, a city overflowing with history, charm, and gelato, which of course, I've already devoured. Oh, and just so you know, this Italian city is totally embracing my pink tutu!

You might be wondering, "Emma, why are you in Rome? You've already conquered the Eiffel Tower and danced your way across Parisian streets!" Well, you see, my loves, I'm fuelled by the wanderlust in my heart and the joy of sharing these adventures with you. I believe every city has a unique ballet story waiting to be told, and Rome's is an absolute masterpiece!

So how did I end up here, you ask? It's all thanks to a fab ballet show I performed at the Derbyshire Town Hall. Those incredible people in the audience were just bursting with generosity. You see, the amazing thing is that my ballet performances fund my travels, turning my passion into an adventure! The applause and cheers echo through me and make me dance with happiness.

But before we get lost in the magic of Roman ballet, let's dive into the fun that's filled this week!

I love train journeys, they're just so relaxing and allow my mind to wander. The gentle sway of the train, the beautiful landscapes rushing past my window, all inspire my creative energy. My trip from Derbyshire, through the Channel Tunnel, and all the way to Rome was pure enchantment. I even spotted a charming Italian family in their pink tutu matching outfits on the platform! I couldn't resist sharing my passion and offering some tutu styling tips (naturally, with a pink tinge!)

The moment my train pulled into Rome Termini, I knew I was in a special place. This city is steeped in history, a canvas of art and architecture. You could feel it in the air. As soon as I stepped out onto the cobblestones, the sunshine kissed my skin, and I felt myself drawn to the charming narrow streets and charming plazas, just begging to be explored! The scent of fresh pastries and the buzz of happy voices filled my senses, instantly immersing me in the Roman spirit.

This week has been all about indulging in the delights of Rome. Let's be honest, with my insatiable curiosity, I'm always on the lookout for fabulous sights, irresistible fashion, and of course, those Instagrammable moments! Here's a glimpse of what has stolen my ballerina heart:

• The Colosseum: It's truly impressive, so monumental and powerful, it seems like something straight out of a gladiator movie. Even though I love modern fashion, there’s something about history that simply enthralls me! I donned a blush pink flowing maxi skirt with an elegant cream tank top and topped it off with a charming sunhat. My pink tutu adorned a delicate chair nearby for the perfect photograph – talk about an elegant statement!
• Trevi Fountain: Imagine a fountain that captures the heart of a city – that's the Trevi Fountain! This majestic creation just exuded romance and artistic grace. I embraced the scene in a dazzling rose pink ruffled dress paired with delicate silver ballet flats, just a hint of magic for my ballerina heart!
• The Pantheon: A stunning dome of architectural wonder – you simply must visit! It took my breath away with its incredible symmetry and sense of tranquility. I decided to dress down for this one with a pale pink cotton dress, a comfy pink denim jacket, and a pop of color with my pink tulle ballerina slippers.
• Spanish Steps: These steps are a social hotspot – it felt like half of Rome was enjoying an al fresco gelato! I joined in the fun, opting for a classic outfit: a beautiful pink lace top with a white, knee-length skirt, adding that touch of fairytale chic with a soft pink hat and my pink tutu, hanging prettily from my arm, waiting for the perfect photo opportunity.
• Trastevere: What can I say? This charming area is where the real Roman heart lies! The energy was contagious – it buzzed with live music, delicious smells from local trattorias, and the joyous sounds of happy people enjoying themselves. I wanted something both casual and effortlessly chic, so I went for a pink floral midi dress, and you know, I'm never one to leave home without a pop of sparkle, so my pink glitter sneakers completed the look!

Okay, darling, you know I'm obsessed with finding the perfect fashion gems in every city I visit. I want to explore the local style and soak in all the inspiration! And let me tell you, the fashion in Rome has captivated me completely!

Rome, as you know, has a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to style. Think chic yet effortless, vibrant and sophisticated, with a hint of classic Italian charm. It’s no surprise, considering it’s home to some of the world’s most famous designers!

One of my first fashion finds was a cute vintage pink scarf, featuring delicate floral patterns. It perfectly echoed Rome's captivating beauty. Later, while exploring a hidden alleyway, I stumbled upon the most exquisite vintage shop, brimming with stunning gowns. I even found a silk pink evening dress - talk about a Parisian vintage dream! It was like it was designed for my ballerina soul.

During my time here, I’ve had some heartwarming interactions with locals, and I love sharing my love for the pink tutu with everyone I meet! A charming gentleman complimented my vibrant pink tutu while I was admiring the beauty of the Colosseum. We chatted about fashion and the magic of ballet. My passion shines so brightly, and seeing their smiles makes my heart flutter with joy.

This wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Rome post without a mention of ballet! My heart practically leaped when I discovered the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (the Rome Opera House)! This theatre is truly breathtaking – it’s one of the most prominent opera houses in the world, and home to a spectacular ballet company! The ballet I witnessed, La Bayadère, was mesmerizing - the dancers’ artistry was awe-inspiring, the music enthralled me, and I just loved the grand costumes. It reminded me how much joy I find in my ballet journey, and why I am so passionate about sharing this art with everyone!
