It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another installment of my Rome blog! The sun is shining, the air is warm, and I’m practically bouncing with excitement - this trip has already been absolutely sensational. The cobbled streets are a ballerina’s dream - perfect for practicing my fouetté turns, and let me tell you, with this sunshine, even a pink tutu is perfectly in keeping with the vibrant, joyous spirit of Rome.
For those of you new to the Pink Tutu universe, you might be asking "Why Rome, Emma?" Well, for me, Rome is the ultimate fusion of historical grandeur and artistic beauty. It's a city that breathes art and history in equal measure. Just the thought of exploring the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, and St. Peter's Basilica filled me with the most fabulous inspiration.
But what makes this trip extra special? It’s my first time in Italy! Now, you can imagine how thrilled I am, a girl from Derbyshire who simply can’t get enough of travel, to finally be exploring a place I’ve been dreaming about forever. I’ve already indulged in delectable Italian gelato, devoured delicious pasta, and even tried my hand at throwing coins into the Trevi fountain. Of course, I've already made a wishlist of all the incredible designer boutiques to discover during my time here, because shopping and a ballerina's life go hand in hand, don't you think?
Fashion and Fueling the Dream
Speaking of dreams, and fuel for that dream, you may be wondering, how does a girl in a tutu manage to fund all these exciting adventures? Well, my friends, I'm no stranger to the world of stage performances. From ballets to theatre productions, I put on my dancing shoes, step onto the stage, and embrace the transformative power of storytelling. These performances are more than just a job for me, they are an incredible opportunity to share my love for the art form, express myself, and fund the travels that fill my life with colour, inspiration, and endless joy!
This week’s performance was an enchanting contemporary ballet at the beautiful Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, just a train ride away from Rome. It was the perfect balance between grace and strength, elegance and energy, a captivating narrative that took my breath away!
Of course, there's no travel without a few outfits fit for a Pink Tutu Queen. I always love travelling in style, and this week has been no different! The trains, you see, are not just a means of transport for me - they are a fashion runway, a chance to embrace the elegance and fluidity of travel in style! My recent train journey from Derbyshire was all about sleek, stylish looks - a touch of classic pink, a dash of Parisian chic, and all topped off with my signature pink tutu for a hint of playful glamour.
Rome itself has proven a vibrant haven for discovering unique and wonderful garments. The shopping streets, filled with bustling activity and the aroma of freshly brewed espresso, have been my playground! From independent boutiques tucked away in charming alleyways to stylish high street shops, I've been soaking in the latest fashion trends. Today, my favourite find was a vintage silk scarf - I'm thinking of styling it with my next pink tutu ensemble for an added touch of Roman elegance.
Exploring The Eternal City:
While I can never resist the lure of a beautiful dress, this week has also been a feast for my senses, exploring the rich history and stunning architecture of Rome. From the colossal ruins of the Roman Forum, echoing the grandeur of ancient times, to the intricate details of the Vatican Museums, my days have been filled with breathtaking sights, a veritable ballerina's paradise.
Yesterday was spent walking the length and breadth of the iconic Colosseum - it was absolutely awe-inspiring! Walking among the remnants of history, you can practically feel the pulse of this powerful ancient civilization beating within the stones. To imagine gladiators clashing in the arena and emperors watching from their seats brought an entirely different dimension to my ballet performance. I think I'll be dreaming of grand arenas for weeks to come.
Later this week, I am so excited to take a dance class, led by a renowned Italian ballet instructor! Just thinking about the energy of the room and the experience of learning new movements, infused with Italian passion, makes my toes tap with excitement! Rome is the ultimate dance destination! It is literally woven into the heart and soul of the city. I can almost hear the rhythm of history whispering through its ancient stones, echoing the graceful steps of the legendary ballerinas of yesteryear.
As you know, my ultimate ambition is to inspire everyone to embrace the joy, the freedom, the beauty of the pink tutu. Rome is already a vibrant, exciting city - a pink tutu is just the perfect complement! Can you imagine walking through Piazza Navona in your own pink tutu, soaking in the Italian sun, twirling your way past beautiful fountains? Now, that’s what I call an unforgettable adventure.
