Pink Tutu Rome: #1483 - Ciao Bella, Italy!
Wednesday 8th November 2023
Buongiorno from sunny Rome! The cobblestones are calling, the gelato is melting (and I'm already halfway through my first tub of pistachio!), and my pink tutu is feeling a tad out of place amongst all this Renaissance architecture. But hey, who says a little bit of Derbyshire sparkle can't brighten up the Eternal City?
This week's #PinkTutuRome blog is all about exploring this beautiful city, embracing the vibrant energy of this historic centre and of course, enjoying every delicious morsel of food I can find.
Before I begin, let me just say, it's been an epic journey to get here. The train ride from Derbyshire was nothing short of an adventure. Imagine, me in my signature pink tutu, surrounded by excited tourists and a smattering of bemused locals. I love how train journeys are the perfect opportunity to unleash the inner sparkle! You never know who you might inspire to embrace their own twirl.
Speaking of twirling, Rome is buzzing with activity! It’s the perfect location to pick up new moves for the upcoming dance shows. Just picture it – me, whipping up a whirlwind in the Piazza Navona, using the Trevi Fountain as a backdrop, and inspiring everyone to break out their inner ballerina! Now that would be something worth capturing on film!
Here’s a sneak peek into my Roman itinerary:
A Ballet Debut: The Grand Finale of a Magical Show!
Rome's theatre scene is legendary, so this week I’m excited to see an actual ballet performance. The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is renowned, and I’m thrilled to witness a dazzling display of classical dance, a symphony of graceful movements and costumes - truly a spectacle for the senses! Imagine - me, lost in a world of plies and pirouettes, right there amongst the Italian crowds. The excitement is buzzing already.
Exploring Roman Glamour
Shopping in Rome is a dream. Forget your average high street stores - we’re talking timeless fashion that speaks to history and artistry. This weekend I'm making a beeline for a few iconic shops on Via Condotti, one of the world’s most stylish streets, a place brimming with history and where some of the world’s top designers have boutiques. Imagine the outfits! I’m ready to indulge in a few classic pieces and sprinkle some Pink Tutu magic on them!
Roman Revelations
To truly experience the soul of this city, I’m taking a trip to the Colosseum! It's a step back in time, the stories and the history that resonate within those walls...incredible! It will be fascinating to discover more about this magnificent monument, marvel at the grandeur and take a walk through time.
And of course, Gelato…because it’s Rome!
I've already made my first visit to the charming Gelateria del Teatro. The creamy, perfectly balanced flavour of that first scoop of gelato...a sensory symphony, and a truly iconic Italian experience! I have a whole list of gelato places to tick off before I return to England!
Staying True to My Pink Tutu Spirit
Yes, it’s an incredible trip to Italy and yes, Rome is incredible, but I'm still true to my Pink Tutu spirit. There's just something so wonderfully inspiring about this colour!
Even though Rome is full of the grandeur and the charm of a vibrant and historical city, I’ve spotted a few people who embrace colour in unexpected places. Maybe not quite ready to embrace the tutu yet, but still making a statement. I have faith! The seeds of a Pink Tutu Revolution have been planted!
So, whether you're an experienced traveller or this is your first foray into the beauty of Italy, remember: embrace the colour, don’t be afraid to be bold and always find your own way to express yourself!
Stay tuned next week for more of my #PinkTutuRome adventures, I'll be sharing all the incredible things I see and do in this stunning city. You can always find more stories, updates, and beautiful photos at www.pink-tutu.com, or join me on Instagram and Facebook.
Until then, happy twirling!
Emma
PS You might spot me twirling along the cobbled streets of Rome, or grabbing a scoop of gelato on Via Condotti. Say hi! Maybe I'll even give you a mini ballet lesson...
