Buongiorno, darling darlings! 👋
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome blog post! And, oh my, Rome is truly living up to its name - it's been a whirlwind of colour, culture, and of course, plenty of twirls. This week, I've been channeling my inner Audrey Hepburn in the beautiful Piazza Navona, mesmerized by the baroque fountains and the street performers (and, you guessed it, I spotted a fabulously colourful street artist painting in shades of pink - a true Pink Tutu moment!).

My favourite thing about Rome is the incredible blend of history and hustle-bustle, all wrapped up in a beautiful Italian package. The Piazza Navona is a prime example: on the one hand, you've got this ancient, magnificent square, surrounded by impressive buildings and stunning fountains (a big fan of fountains myself!), but on the other hand, the whole space is alive with artists, buskers, and of course, lots of yummy gelato stands - it's a total sensory feast! I particularly loved the Bernini Fountain - its dynamic energy and the interplay of light and water just had me twirling with joy! And who needs a ballet barre when you've got the fountain's base to perfect your elegant penché?!
Fashionable Feast in the Eternal City
But of course, no #PinkTutuRome adventure is complete without a spot of shopping! My first stop was the magnificent Via Condotti, Rome's answer to Fifth Avenue and Bond Street. My little ballerina heart skipped a beat with every boutique - seriously, I'm practically living in the perfect wardrobe for Rome: think elegant silk skirts, breezy cotton dresses, and statement earrings to rival any gladiator's jewels. You can bet your bottom tutu that I've already scored a few delightful additions to my #PinkTutuWardrobe - just wait until you see the blush-pink beret and the silk scarf I picked up with delicate Roman ruins on it - pure perfection!
Under the Roman Sky: Ballet Dreams
Now, I know I’m not technically a prima ballerina, but my heart just beats a little faster when I'm in the company of fellow dancers! You know what’s exciting? The Rome Opera House is having a performance of "La Traviata" on Wednesday night - that means a tutu-filled night with lots of dramatic entrances, passionate dances, and those glorious Italian opera voices - bellissimo! I'm actually a big fan of the ballet shows at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. There's nothing like seeing classical ballet set against the backdrop of such a beautiful venue. It truly feels like the dancers are transporting you to another time and place.
Rome’s Food and Train Travels
As for sustenance, my Roman taste buds have been going into overdrive. It's pasta heaven, everyone! From the decadent carbonara to the vibrant pesto alla genovese, every dish has been an explosion of flavour and Italian flair. And don't even get me started on the pizza - talk about a dance for the taste buds! The mozzarella is divine and the dough is oh-so-chewy.
Now, I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't share how I travelled: Train, of course! It's so much more chic (and comfy) to travel by train. I boarded a glamorous Trenitalia express with plush velvet seats - almost as elegant as the carriage to the ballet.
Rome's Vibrant Nightlife and the Tutu-fying of the World
Of course, evenings in Rome are just as exhilarating. Tonight, I'm taking a trip to Trastevere, that charming cobblestoned neighbourhood where life seems to happen on every corner - live music, buzzing piazzas, and more street food delights to satisfy even the pickiest of ballerina palates.
So, that's my #PinkTutuRome adventure this week. My love for all things pretty is flourishing under the Roman sky!
