February 14thā¦ Valentine's Day! Itās a day for love, romance, andā¦ drum roll tutus? Oh, why not, right? Rome has certainly been giving me the love vibes. The city just seems to ooze passion, whether it's the heart-stopping view from the top of the Pantheon or the fiery flavours in a plate of pasta.
Now, Iāve always adored Italy. Something about the rolling Tuscan hills, the warm sun on my skin, the intoxicating scent of espressoā¦ it just resonates with my soul. Itās also a haven for ballet enthusiasts! As you all know, I'm a ballet junkie at heart. The passion, the artistry, the eleganceā¦ it's simply divine! Iām a firm believer in wearing tutus EVERYWHERE (even to the grocery store!), but seeing Rome with its romantic history and grand, classical buildings is giving me even more inspiration.
Before I tell you all about my Roman adventures, let's chat about how I managed to afford this amazing trip, darling! Remember those tutus you love? Well, the amazing thing about ballet is that you can actually make a career out of it! And while it isnāt a bed of roses, trust me, thereās nothing like the rush of performing and feeling those cheers from the audience!
Thatās right! Your girl is a real life travelling ballerina, juggling my passions for ballet and fashion with a touch of adventurous travel. The key? Booking myself for some fabulous performances, selling a few items from my tutu collection (the pink ones are still here!), and a bit of smart budgeting. Youād be surprised at what you can do when you follow your dreams and stay organised!
And talking about organising... planning a trip to Rome can seem daunting, but fear not! This is where my extensive Pink Tutu research skills come in! Before arriving in this glamorous city, I had carefully studied the train timetable to plan the most efficient and convenient routes (nothing beats a comfortable, stress-free journey). I'd booked accommodation that allowed for comfy beds, so I could feel rested and ready to conquer Rome! And don't even get me started on the meticulously organised pink tutu wardrobe! You see, preparation is key, my lovelies!
Now, let's rewind to this gorgeous city. Rome! You truly are a feast for the senses! Thereās so much beauty to explore: from the imposing Colosseum (oh, the gladiators, the chariot races, the drama! I can just imagine how exhilarating the spectacles must have been!), to the romantic ruins of the Forum and the magnificent Trevi Fountain, throwing a coin over my shoulder with wishes for more fabulous trips! And then there's the Pantheon. Just stunning, really! Stepping inside is like being transported back in time. I almost wanted to start pirouetteing down its magnificent marble floors! (Maybe next time!)
One of my absolute favourite experiences was exploring the quirky, little streets of Trastevere. This place is buzzing with life. Cobblestone alleys brimming with cute shops selling all sorts of goodies, authentic Italian trattorias with delicious aromas, and friendly locals always happy to chat. This is Rome at its heart!
Speaking of my beloved ballet, I discovered the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, one of the most exquisite opera houses in Europe. Just walking through its grand halls is like entering a dream, and its schedule for this season promises amazing productions. You bet your tutus I'll be seeing a show, hopefully something with beautiful dance choreography that makes my tutu-heart sing!
Now, a trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Spanish Steps! (My favourite colour pink is everywhere, darlings, especially in these romantic flowers!) Picture this: me in my favourite pink tutu, twirling on those steps as the sun sets. Perfect, right? Of course, this can only happen in my daydreamsā¦ well, at least for now!
The Italian designers have captured my heart! I found the most stunning pink satin handbag with exquisite floral details (absolutely had to grab it!). There are so many fabulous shops bursting with everything from shoes to scarves. It's heaven on earth! The whole shopping experience feels almost like a dance, with so much vibrant colour and chic outfits. (You all know my motto: āDress like you mean it, girls!")
Itās a little early to call it a day, though. Tonight Iām heading out to indulge in the legendary Roman nightlife with my lovely travel companion. I hear there's this wonderful street food market with authentic pasta and pizza... yum. A little bit of street theatre will also add some entertainment to our evening. After all, my motto is always āmake it theatricalā! And maybe, just maybe, I'll find a shop that carries tutus! (One can dream, can't they?)
