Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1498 – Ciao Bella! A Whirlwind of Pink in the Eternal City

Hello my lovelies! It’s Emma here, back from another exhilarating adventure, this time in the breathtaking, historical city of Rome! I know, I know, some might say, “Emma, what are you doing in Rome wearing a tutu?” And to that I say, “Darling, why not?” Because as much as I love my ballet classes and shows, there’s something incredibly freeing about twirling around the streets of an iconic city, with the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain as your backdrop.

This week’s #PinkTutuRome post marks my 1498th blog entry on www.pink-tutu.com, and I couldn’t be more excited to share my latest adventures with you. This city has a magical allure, and its timeless beauty truly resonated with my girly heart.

So, grab your favourite cuppa, a slice of your most delectable cake (pink frosting highly recommended!), and let's dive into a day of pink tutus and Roman wonders.

The Journey Begins – Trains, Tutús and Italian Delights

I always love travelling by train – there’s something romantic and glamorous about arriving in a new city with a suitcase full of outfits and the anticipation of the unknown.

After a picturesque train journey across the continent (a very fashionable, bright pink travel outfit was a must!), I finally arrived at Rome Termini station, feeling as though I’d stepped onto a film set. Imagine, if you will, a bustling, beautiful hub, adorned with art nouveau touches and radiating a timeless charm that whispered tales of emperors, gladiators, and the artists who have made this city so magical.

But let’s not forget my main mission – my quest to spread the joy of pink tutus wherever I go! So, right as I stepped onto the cobbled streets, a bright pink tutu made its grand appearance. It seemed fitting, wouldn't you agree? The air thrummed with excitement – just like my twirling skirt.

Rome: Fashionable & Food Glorious Food

Now, you all know I adore a bit of fashion. So of course, Rome was a sartorial wonderland. Shopping in Rome is truly a delightful experience – from the elegant boutiques of Via Condotti, where the aroma of leather goods filled the air, to the eclectic vintage shops tucked away in charming, winding alleys. I had a ball finding unique treasures to add to my collection – a whimsical hat for my next ballet performance, some chic heels for a fancy evening out, and naturally, a pink velvet bag for all my essentials. But Rome is not just about fashion, oh no. It’s a culinary paradise too! I just can’t get enough of the vibrant flavours. From the freshest, sweetest gelato imaginable (you simply must try the pistachio – a pink tutu-tastic treat!), to hearty, rich pasta dishes (I discovered a heavenly pesto pasta that tickled my taste buds!), the food was simply irresistible.

History Meets Grace: Ballet in the Eternal City

Rome, being the magnificent city it is, houses some truly exceptional ballet performances. On Wednesday, February 21st (yes, that was the date of this post!), I went to see the Roma Opera House perform "La Bayadere" - and oh my goodness, it was just sensational! The dance, the music, the costumes – a real treat for the eyes and soul. The dancers were incredible, swirling through their moves with such grace and precision that it took my breath away. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love ballet so much – its passion, its beauty, its pure expression. It's a powerful reminder that art transcends language and cultural barriers, uniting us in shared emotions and experiences.

Seeing the Sights in Pink Tutu Perfection

I wasn't about to miss out on exploring all the famous sights, naturally. Each iconic location just begs to be twirled in.

So, there I was, on a sunny Tuesday, twirling with glee amidst the ancient ruins of the Colosseum! It’s a true monument to history, a glimpse into the past that feels alive and vibrant.

The next day, I took a walk around the Roman Forum – a captivating reminder of a time long gone. And just like those ancient Romans, I found myself surrounded by beauty and magnificence.

Of course, my pink tutu wasn’t just confined to the historical sites! I spent hours admiring the treasures of the Vatican Museums and marveling at the grandeur of St. Peter's Basilica. The vibrant mosaics, the elaborate art, the intricate architecture, the sense of reverence in the air - it was a humbling and inspirational experience. I simply couldn’t resist spinning in a flurry of pink delight. The sheer brilliance of St. Peter's Basilica deserves nothing less, don't you agree?

Rome and the Spirit of "La Dolce Vita"

Rome truly has this infectious energy about it, a sense of “la dolce vita,” that carefree Italian charm. I couldn't help but be swept up in it! Each day, each little corner of the city had a story to tell. Whether I was enjoying a picnic by the Trevi Fountain, throwing in my coin (for luck, of course!) or savouring an espresso on a rooftop terrace while gazing at the sprawling panorama, I felt deeply connected to this magnificent city. And as the sun set, bathing the city in golden hues, casting long shadows and illuminating the beautiful stone buildings, it made me feel a real sense of peace and awe.

Pink Tutu Rome: Adventures Never End!

That’s it for my Roman adventures this time, my lovely readers! This week, the Pink Tutu ventured into the heart of Italian history and fashion, with a generous helping of gelato and pasta. It’s a city that ignites creativity and offers endless possibilities – a little like me, I think!

I have to go now, I'm off to see if my favourite gelato shop has a pink rose gelato. And of course, I have a few ballet classes lined up, to perfect my pirouettes and prepare for upcoming performances – you can find my show schedule and more about my upcoming shows on my website, www.pink-tutu.com.

Until next week, may your week be filled with twirls and glitter, and never forget to add a splash of pink wherever you go.

Ciao bella, and happy twirling!

Emma xx
