#PinkTutuRome - A Roman Holiday in Pink!

Wednesday 24th April 2024 - Post #1507

Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome blog post! This week, I'm bouncing with excitement as I finally share my Italian adventures with you lovely lot. I've dreamt of visiting Rome for years, and now, finally, it's happening! And guess what? It's even better than I imagined! I landed last week and have been absolutely smitten with the city ever since.

Train Journeys and Pink Twirls

You already know how much I adore travelling by train, so of course, my journey from Derbyshire to Rome was filled with sunshine, laughter, and a little bit of pirouette practice. (It’s much harder to do in a confined train space, let me tell you!) But honestly, every step of the way was an absolute dream. The Eurostar glided me seamlessly through the French countryside, and from Paris, the journey to Rome was simply magical. It’s all about embracing the adventure, even the bits where I almost dropped my delicious afternoon tea from the swaying carriage!

La Dolce Vita & a Tutu Touch

I'm living the 'La Dolce Vita' right here in the heart of Rome! And I've added a touch of pink tulle to it too, of course. Every morning, I wake up, slip into my newest, most vibrant pink tutu (because, let's face it, a trip to Rome deserves a special tutu!) and take to the streets. My tutu twirls and twirls through ancient squares, cobblestone streets, and by those iconic fountains – oh my word, you wouldn’t believe the joy this city gives you. There are so many picturesque spots that just scream for a ballerina pose, especially around the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain! It's like a real-life ballet performance with history, art and an audience in every corner.

Art and Beauty Everywhere You Turn

Speaking of art, let me tell you, Rome is a true feast for the eyes. You stumble upon breathtaking architecture, masterpieces hidden in museums, and captivating street art on every corner. I just cannot get over the grandeur of St. Peter's Basilica, with its stunning dome and sprawling piazzas. The colours and the beauty just take my breath away! Even the simple act of strolling down a cobblestone street in the city centre is like stepping back in time. It feels like the setting of a beautiful ballet, you know? With all that rich history swirling around me, it just adds extra inspiration to my dance practice. I am honestly inspired to put my ballet shoe down every few minutes and capture the magnificence through my lens.

Shopping, Shows & Ballet Bliss

Okay, so now for the really exciting bit - my ballet exploration of Rome! Of course, no trip would be complete without a little ballet, and Rome is a treasure trove of shows, from traditional ballet at the Teatro dell'Opera to contemporary pieces in unique venues. Last night, I even managed to sneak into a local ballet studio for a class! I met some lovely Italian dancers and it was incredible to feel the energy and passion in the studio. My favourite part was probably when the teacher used to help me translate. We had lots of laughs and the music really brought the dance space to life.

This weekend I’m booked into a ballet performance at the Teatro Olimpico, and of course, I will be rocking my newest pink tutu and blogging about the whole experience here on www.pink-tutu.com for you lovely readers. As for shopping, Rome has the most beautiful boutiques you can imagine. The shop windows here are bursting with style, so I just have to try on the gorgeous fabrics, accessories, shoes, and bags to create a little outfit inspiration! This city really does know how to dress up for the occasion!

Roman Feasting: Pasta, Pizza & Gelato

Food? Well, darling, it wouldn't be a true Roman adventure without exploring the incredible cuisine. Every restaurant and cafe I’ve visited has been absolutely perfect, from the classic Italian trattorias to the trendy cafes. Have you ever eaten carbonara in Rome, I mean, it's like a culinary masterpiece. Let’s not forget pizza, the best I’ve had in my life and of course, my all time favourite dessert… gelato. It’s truly heaven in a cone! This is what I’d call a good holiday, wouldn't you?

Pink Tutu Rome: A Never-ending Adventure

Rome has definitely lived up to all of my expectations and so much more! It’s the kind of place where you get lost in the magic of ancient history and beautiful architecture. It’s the city where I’ve indulged in the best pasta, gelato, and of course, danced the night away to incredible live performances! And if you're a ballet lover like me, it’s a real dream destination.

But the most amazing thing? It’s been a joy spreading my passion for pink tutus around this fabulous city. Every time I’ve donned my favourite tutu for a walk or even a coffee break, I see those smiles. From a group of teenage girls laughing as I walked by, to the waiter giving me a double-take in a chic restaurant – everyone seems to love a bit of tutu magic! And I believe that spreading this tutu joy makes the world a better place. After all, the world looks a lot brighter through pink tulle, doesn’t it?

Stay tuned for more #PinkTutuRome posts from the Italian capital next week. It's certainly not goodbye, but "Arrivederci!"

P.S. Did I mention the stunning sunset views from the top of the Spanish Steps? Now that’s one for the books, and an inspiration for my next tutu outfit! Ciao!

Love, Emma
