Pink Tutu Rome: #1506 - Where Every Day is a Performance 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao, darlings! Emma here, your resident Pink Tutu traveller, and I'm absolutely buzzing to be in Rome! This glorious city has captured my heart from the moment I stepped off the train (the train journey from Florence was a dream, by the way – complete with an impromptu performance by a little girl in a dazzling red tutu, oh the cuteness!).
This week's Pink Tutu adventure is all about exploring the Eternal City in my signature style - think vibrant pink tulle, ballet-inspired elegance, and of course, a whole lot of amore. Rome is a city of beauty and grace, where ancient history meets modern glamour and the spirit of art pulses through every cobblestone street.
It’s Wednesday, the 17th of April 2024, and the sun is shining bright, setting the perfect stage for my explorations. Today's outfit? Well, it wouldn't be Pink Tutu Rome without a splash of colour, so I'm sporting a gorgeous, dusty rose, vintage tulle skirt – picked up at a fabulous antique market just outside of Rome. The soft pink layers float around me as I waltz through the streets, perfectly complemented by a vintage pearl-button cardigan and a pair of pastel pink ballet flats. The best bit? This outfit is super comfy and practical, perfect for hopping on and off buses, and exploring hidden alleyways – even the ones that might be a little less Instagrammable.
Speaking of hidden gems, my first stop this morning was the Casina delle Civette, a whimsical villa nestled in a secret corner of Villa Torlonia. I confess I felt like I’d stumbled into a fairy tale - the whole place is adorned with beautiful mosaics, ceramic works, and vibrant colours, all topped off with a collection of breathtaking owls (naturally!). The Casina is a testament to the passion and artistry of the city – I left feeling utterly enchanted and brimming with creative inspiration.
Ballet Bliss
I'm a firm believer that the world's a stage, and Rome, oh darling, is one of the most magnificent stages of all! This evening, I'll be enjoying a breathtaking ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Tonight’s programme features "La Bayadère," a classic ballet known for its vibrant costumes, dramatic choreography, and heart-wrenching romance. It's exactly my cup of tea – and what better way to spend an evening than surrounded by beautiful music and storytelling, embodied by talented dancers?
I’ll be adding a few personal touches to my evening outfit, because Pink Tutu Rome is all about finding the magic in the mundane – expect a sprinkle of sparkle and perhaps a feather boa, because Rome is just begging for a little more glitter, right?!
The Fashionista’s Paradise
Before I slip into my dancing shoes, it’s time for a little shopping spree! I just can’t resist the allure of Roman boutiques, they're bursting with incredible fabrics, delicious colours, and chic styles. One of my favourite haunts is Via Condotti – a luxury shopper’s haven that would make even the most experienced fashionista’s head spin.
I'm planning to pick up a pair of silk scarves – perfect for throwing over a simple black dress, and adding a touch of Parisian elegance to my everyday looks. Then, of course, I need to browse the Vintage Markets, the hidden treasures that line the cobbled alleys of Rome are beyond compare! I’ve got my eye on a chic 1960s style bag in the palest shade of baby blue.
Rome is a dream come true for a vintage-loving girl! I find it amazing how style in the city constantly interweaves the new and old. One minute you're standing before the majestic Roman Forum, gazing upon the echoes of a past empire, and the next you’re discovering an artisanal boutique offering handmade shoes and stunning accessories made with centuries-old techniques. It’s an incredible mix!
Dinner, Dreams, and Pasta
No trip to Rome is complete without an Italian feast! This evening, I'm savouring the delicious aroma of fresh pasta wafting from a little Trattoria I found tucked away near the Colosseum. I plan to have my heart stolen by a bowl of Carbonara – Rome’s signature pasta dish. And yes, I’m going to go for a second helping. There’s a bit of the Roman Empire in me tonight!
To end my day, I’ll be taking a leisurely stroll through the romantic Piazza Navona. I can imagine myself in the time of the Renaissance, as the artists showcased their work in the squares. Today’s Piazza Navona is alive with tourists and street performers, and although the spirit is slightly different, the buzz and joy of art are ever-present!
My dearest Pink Tutu friends, I truly believe Rome has magic to spare! From the magnificent sights and sounds, the romantic ambience, and of course, the captivating Italian style, every day in this city feels like an exciting performance!
