Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello gorgeous, it’s Emma here, and this is Pink Tutu Rome, post number 1514! I'm absolutely thrilled to be in the Eternal City, you guys. I mean, can you imagine, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and all those beautiful Roman ruins - all with my trusty pink tutu swirling around me? What more could a girl ask for?

A train journey that’s the epitome of Italian romance: I journeyed from my little corner of Derbyshire, England to Rome, the very first time in my life on the Eurostar. Let me tell you, it was pure luxury, just like being in a big comfy ballet studio, with my little pink travel tutu and sparkly bag nestled next to me. We got chatting with a couple on their honeymoon, who said Rome is all about enjoying the sweet things in life - like gelato, and wearing your heart on your sleeve! Now, that’s the kind of romantic advice I love to hear!

I'm here to turn heads, explore the city, and make everyone in Rome see the magic of pink tutus. It’s so much fun watching their eyes widen as I strut past, twirling like a beautiful ballet ballerina, even if I haven't even made it into a proper performance yet! My latest ballet performances were actually a real highlight, it’s how I fund these lovely journeys, so I’m so excited to explore the dance scene here!

Fashion in the Italian capital: Ok, so, let’s talk fashion, because the fashion scene here is a dream! Forget stuffy museums, for me, the real history is in the streets of Rome. Think exquisite silks, bold prints, and colours you could never dream of… I have to admit, the Italian ladies know how to wear pink, even if they don’t have my tutus. I've already picked up some stunning shoes for my wardrobe - oh, and a vintage, hand-painted fan for my dance routine! Just divine.

A taste of Italian sunshine: One of my very first stops in Rome was a gelateria on a charming side street in the city centre. Have you ever tasted gelato as good as the stuff they have in Rome?! You wouldn’t think this pink tutu could get any brighter, but those strawberries, pistachios and chocolate were divine. Even as I took bites, I twirled around like a ballet dancer – let’s just say the paparazzi were out in force! 😉 And the cherry on top of it all? I managed to sneak in some cute pictures with the local Roman fountain with my favourite flamingo bag (I have quite the collection!), adding to the whole 'magical, ballerina' aesthetic I'm going for!

Speaking of magic, what is a visit to Rome without taking a trip to the Colosseum? Honestly, it was incredible! The sheer size of it all! You can truly feel the weight of history there. But for a little girl from Derbyshire who's spent her whole life dancing, the most breathtaking part? I imagined gladiators dancing across the stage, swirling around, their swords like elegant ballet legs, performing a breathtaking spectacle under the Roman sky!

Rome's hidden gems: You might think Rome is all about the grand things, but what makes this city truly special is its charming side streets. Like, imagine the most charming little pink boutiques in every colour you can imagine - with vintage dresses that could’ve been worn by ballerinas, complete with delicate flowers, bows, and all things sparkly - all I can say is it’s pink tutu heaven! And they are bursting with gorgeous silk fabrics for creating tutus, I’ve started gathering fabric and embellishments to make my next signature piece! And the smell of the food… don’t even get me started, oh it's divine.

Roman treats that melt your heart (and belly) : Honestly, the food scene is next level, I’m going to have to spend an entire week just exploring Rome’s eateries. The Tiramisu - creamy, coffee-soaked deliciousness! It’s almost enough to make me forget that my little ballerina tummy isn’t used to such rich treats. Almost! And of course, there was pizza (yes, of course there was pizza!) with every flavour you could possibly dream of, the toppings almost touching the sky! And just like my tutu, each mouthful felt like an explosion of colour and taste!

A taste of Roman Theatre: Ok, I have to talk about the opera I went to on the night of Wednesday the 12th of June at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! It was majestic. I swear, the chandeliers were bigger than some of the houses in Derbyshire, sparkling like a thousand stars. The performance was breathtaking, like all the characters were dancers on a grand, sweeping stage. It gave me chills, and when the orchestra kicked in, I swear I felt the floor vibrate beneath me, making me want to get out of my seat and twirl!

Roman Reflections: You know, the whole Roman experience just makes you think, you know? Like the story of this vibrant, creative city reminds me of the little ballerina I used to be, who’d wear tutus every day and make a show out of just walking down the street. And it inspires me, reminds me that everyone can be an artist! So, if I can do it - from my little village of Derbyshire, dancing in a pink tutu across the whole world, well, there’s nothing you can’t do either.

Join the Pink Tutu Revolution: Now, who else is feeling the urge to dance, gorgeous? To strut in their pink tutus and twirl down the streets of the world? I promise, you’ll have the most amazing time, making everyone smile!
