Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1515 – Ciao Bella! A Week in the Eternal City 🩰🇮🇹
Hello darlings! It’s Emma from Derbyshire here, and welcome to another exciting edition of Pink Tutu Rome, straight from the heart of Italy’s glamorous capital. This week, I’ve been embracing the Roman lifestyle – taking in the iconic sights, indulging in delicious pasta and gelato (you know I can’t resist!), and of course, twirling in my pink tutu throughout the most beautiful city in the world.
If you haven’t already guessed, I’m absolutely smitten with Rome! This city has captured my heart, with its rich history, stunning architecture, and oh-so-charming atmosphere. From the majestic Colosseum and the awe-inspiring Trevi Fountain, to the quaint cobbled streets and bustling markets, Rome truly offers something for everyone. And of course, for a pink-loving ballerina like myself, it’s a veritable paradise!
My Pink Tutu Travels:This week, I decided to ditch the trusty Fiat 500 (although I did fancy one, let me tell you!) and opt for the romance of travelling by train. Italy’s train network is fantastic, efficient, and incredibly stylish. I felt like I stepped straight into a Sophia Loren film – all sleek carriages and beautiful scenery whizzing by.
Tuesday: I kicked off the week with a stunning ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. They were putting on a modern rendition of Swan Lake with a sprinkle of glitz and glamour that made my ballerina heart sing! I'm all for adding a touch of drama, even to classical ballets, and this one did it beautifully. I may have even added a little pink feather boa myself! It’s amazing how you can always find the perfect accessory, even in Rome.
Wednesday: It was a day for exploration, and you can bet I was twirling my way around Rome’s breathtaking squares. The Piazza Navona, with its elegant fountains and lively atmosphere, made a wonderful backdrop for some impromptu ballet moves. Then it was onto the Vatican, and wow! This magnificent palace is a true spectacle, and the gardens, with their meticulously sculpted topiaries, are just like something out of a fairytale. Of course, my trusty pink tutu had to be part of the tour!
Thursday: Now, any ballet enthusiast knows that Rome is famous for its stunning designer boutiques, and today was my shopping day. Via Condotti – what a street! Designer labels galore, the most elegant window displays, and everything, literally EVERYTHING, came in shades of pink! The lovely staff even had pink tutus! I treated myself to a new pair of ballet flats (with an adorable little pink bow!), and a few items from a vintage shop tucked away on a quiet side street. It’s important to support small businesses, darlings, you know!
Friday: Ah, Rome’s culinary scene! Today was a true celebration of Italian cuisine. Pasta, gelato, and espresso, oh my! I started my day with a delicious plate of pasta carbonara in a tiny trattoria near the Colosseum – it was truly heavenly. In the afternoon, I sampled a selection of gelato flavors at a local gelateria (it was very important to make sure I tried them all, of course!), and in the evening, I enjoyed a traditional Italian dinner with friends – and lots of wine. It was truly the best kind of Friday night.
Saturday: My last day in Rome. Sigh! I woke up early for a final coffee, and strolled around the Piazza di Spagna, gazing up at the elegant Spanish Steps, and admiring the stunning flower stands lining the piazza. A true beauty to remember! It was a sentimental farewell, filled with twirling in my pink tutu amongst the throngs of tourists, and an incredible memory I will always cherish.
Sunday: After saying a bittersweet goodbye to this beautiful city, I caught the train back to Derbyshire. Rome is a city you simply can’t get enough of. I know I will be back soon!
Pink Tutu Fashion Notes:
Rome has inspired me immensely. The city’s beautiful fashion has influenced my look – I’ve been incorporating delicate lace details into my ballet outfits, a little bit of luxurious silk for my travelling ensemble, and I am absolutely in love with a new, shimmering blush pink feather boa that adds just the right touch of drama. And of course, my pink tutu makes an appearance in every photo – just another reminder that even the most ordinary day in Rome can feel magical.
Upcoming Events:
And now, back to the busy world of ballet! I have some thrilling performances coming up, with a charity event to raise money for a local ballet school, and a solo performance in a brand new ballet – it’s going to be quite the showstopper!
I will also be giving some ballet classes at my local community center – they're a great way to get fit, make new friends, and, most importantly, have some fun while learning the art of dance! You don't have to wear a pink tutu, although I'd encourage you to – it really does make the class feel special!
So, darling readers, don’t forget to check back next Wednesday for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! Until then, be kind, be joyful, and never forget to embrace your inner ballerina, no matter where life takes you!
With lots of love, Emma 💕
P.S. My favourite thing about Rome was… Oh, how could I choose? Every day, it seemed to be something new, something spectacular, something that made me want to burst into dance! Maybe I'll tell you all about it next week...
