#PinkTutuRome - Post #1526: A Dance Through The Eternal City

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the magnificent city of Rome, where even the cobblestones seem to have a story to tell! It's Wednesday, which means it's #PinkTutuRome day! And guess what? This week's been packed with twirling adventures, dazzling shows, and even a trip to a secret spot I've been dying to tell you about...

You might be thinking, "Rome? Really Emma, tutus in Rome? Doesn't that seem a bit..." Well, let me tell you, darling, nothing says 'Roman holiday' quite like a vibrant pink tutu twirling amidst the Colosseum! Seriously though, the beauty of Rome, with its rich history, stunning architecture, and passionate energy, is the perfect backdrop for a ballet enthusiast like myself. It's all about finding the beauty in every detail, the romance in every alleyway, and the thrill in every new discovery.

Speaking of discoveries, my adventures began with a thrilling journey on the Trenitalia express from my little corner of Derbyshire. Yes, I'm a big fan of train travel, something about those long stretches of countryside whizzing past fills me with a kind of inspired calm. And the joy of stepping out of the station into the buzzing heart of Rome - truly something special.

The first order of the day was a visit to The Roman Forum, and yes, I went in my tutu! Who needs a toga when you can twirl under the remnants of ancient columns, feeling the echoes of history around you?

Let's face it, when it comes to finding the perfect tutu, a girl's gotta do her research! My next stop was the gorgeous Via Condotti. Oh darling, this street is heaven for any fashion lover! Think designer boutiques lining each side, beautiful Italian craftsmanship in every window, and just the scent of chic and stylishness all around. This was the perfect place to start my hunt for a special Roman tutu, one that would make me feel truly elegant amongst all this stunning architecture and beauty. I found the most delicate pink lace tutu, adorned with sequins and a little black velvet ribbon, so elegant, like a princess dancing through the ancient streets.

But Rome wasn't all shopping! A little trip to Teatro dell’Opera di Roma for their dazzling performance of Swan Lake was on the agenda. My favourite ballet - it's such a classic, with powerful movements and emotions. The entire experience was magnificent! Watching talented dancers float across the stage, so elegant, so precise, truly gave me chills.

But Rome wasn't all elegant swan dances, it also provided me with the opportunity to discover a street dance scene that made my heart sing. Right in the middle of the vibrant Campo de’ Fiori, I found a street performance full of energy and colour, complete with street-dancing ballet moves! Talk about modern! It was captivating to watch these dancers use the cobblestones as their stage, drawing the audience into their story through expressive movements. A perfect example of how art, music, and dance transcend any language or culture.

My Roman adventures also led me to Fontana di Trevi, one of the most beautiful and iconic fountains in the world! You know, it’s said that throwing a coin into the fountain guarantees your return to Rome! Well, I've always loved throwing a coin or two, so a twirl around the fountain in my favourite pink tutu, under the starry Roman sky was absolutely magical! The twinkling water, the ancient stone, and the twinkling stars made it a moment I'll never forget!

My trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without visiting Borghese Gallery and Museum. And can you believe this, darling, it actually houses the collection of Bernini’s most celebrated sculptures, like 'The Rape of Proserpina'! So you can see the influence art history has had on the graceful postures of ballerinas! They also had stunning paintings, and this whole beautiful park with rolling gardens... just pure romance.

After such an intense week of exploration and excitement, it's time to find the perfect café with a cappuccino. To sit and absorb all the beauty and inspiration I've gathered. I just love the way the Romans seem to appreciate every moment, every taste, every conversation.

And you know what else I discovered? You don’t need to be in a formal setting to twirl in a pink tutu! You just have to embrace your joy, your unique style, and dance with the passion that defines Rome. So, don’t just visit Rome; embrace it like a performance, and discover your own beauty amidst its history and artistic treasures!

Till next week, my dears, I’ll be sharing more #PinkTutuRome stories, finding more beauty, and spreading a bit more of the magic of pink tutus in every corner of the Eternal City!

Much love, Emma x www.pink-tutu.com
