Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 (Blog Post #1528)
Ciao, darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind of Italian delights! I'm perched in my Rome hotel room, writing to you all while my sparkly pink tutu rests by my side, waiting to be whisked off on another adventure tomorrow. As I said, whirlwind. That's the best way to describe my current life. It's been a constant, gorgeous, exhilarating, and delicious rush ever since I arrived in this amazing city!
I'm not one for waiting around, so straight from the train station, I took the best train ride (a real bargain, too!) straight into the heart of Rome. Now, Rome isn't exactly known for its abundance of pink tutus. I think the only time I saw one was in a museum... and even that one was made of marble, which is quite hard to dance in. So you can imagine how excited I was when I came across a boutique called "Rosy's Couture." Imagine, a whole shop dedicated to everything pink. From floral dresses to sparkly shoes, I was in a sugary, girly heaven!
However, there were no tutus. Sadly, it appears that even a place called "Rosy's Couture" couldn't understand the appeal of the perfect tutu. I'm determined, though, and have my eye on a particular atelier in the Trastevere neighborhood, renowned for its bespoke, custom designs. It's my secret weapon for finding that perfect Italian-inspired tutu.
Now, let's talk about food. My friends, I have tasted heaven! Rome is a wonderland of delicious food - fresh pasta with creamy sauces, fluffy pizza piled with toppings you never thought possible, and of course, the sweetest, richest gelato. It's the sort of food you crave, dream about, and, to be honest, are likely still craving as you read this! The gelato deserves a special mention. Oh, the gelato! Flavors so amazing, you'll never want to leave!
Speaking of leaving, you can't explore Rome without taking in the history. The Colosseum - oh my, the sheer size of it! I felt tiny and overwhelmed. It made me think of all the gladiators who once walked those steps, their courage echoing in the very air. There's something magical about these ancient ruins. I saw Roman soldiers, gladiators in battle (it was epic), and the most incredible chariot races you've ever seen. I’m certain you would all have loved it! My photos will definitely show the magic of it all.
After the Colosseum, it was onto the Pantheon. I have to say, those round ceilings are breathtaking! They really are the perfect example of why people call Rome the Eternal City. The energy of the place is just palpable, filled with stories and legends whispered through centuries.
Speaking of centuries, did you know the Fontana di Trevi was designed in the 18th century? This beautiful fountain - a true romantic icon - was adorned with flowers and twirling ballerinas... okay, maybe not the twirling ballerinas, but imagine! That's exactly the vibe we're going for. I’m so desperate to bring tutus to the fountain and perform - you can’t have a more spectacular background. That's next week's plan - I’ll be on the lookout for that perfect spot to throw some glitter and tutu in front of the fountain... It will be incredible.
Tonight I’ll be in the audience at Rome Opera House to see a fantastic ballet performance called “The Three Graces.” You wouldn’t believe the detail of the costumes and choreography.
But wait! It gets even better... whispering... You wouldn't believe what's going on right this very second at my hotel. That's right. It’s the "International Ballet Conference". And I, being the absolute darling I am, happened to catch sight of the world’s most incredible ballerinas from all corners of the globe! It’s my chance to catch some truly incredible inspiration!
And you can be certain, my dears, that Pink Tutu Rome will be filled with the stories, pictures and all the glittery bits of my time here in the Eternal City! I can’t wait to bring you all on this journey!
Until next Wednesday!
With all the pink tutus and sparkle you can possibly imagine,
Emma xx
