Pink Tutu Rome: A whirlwind of Italian Chic (Blog Post #1532)
Ciao Bella!
It’s Emma here, and I’m living my best life! It’s Wednesday which means you’re getting a fresh slice of Pink Tutu travel goodness straight from my latest adventure - Rome! The city that stole my heart (and probably my bank account). This week’s been a kaleidoscope of history, art, delicious pasta, and of course, endless outfit inspiration!
I arrived on Saturday (train, obviously, the only way to truly appreciate the European landscape), my trusty pink tutu bouncing in its little suitcase bag like it knew we were in for a real treat. The streets were abuzz, a symphony of honking Vespas, cobblestones under my dancing shoes, and laughter ringing through the air - a true taste of Italian joy!
First Stop: A Ballet Ballet, Ballet!
Now, as you all know, the Pink Tutu mission is to spread the joy of dance, and Rome delivered! I landed just in time for a ballet show at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, where a beautiful rendition of La Traviata took my breath away. It was a dream! Gorgeous costumes, dazzling performances, and a plot that had me completely invested. This little Derbyshire girl was spellbound!
Rome in Pink:
After the show, it was time for the first of many, MANY shopping trips. Rome is a paradise for any fashion lover! I'm a firm believer in finding the perfect colour palette to suit the location and its vibrancy, so pink was naturally at the top of the list. I think my bag went through a major growth spurt, filled with silk scarves in blushing pinks, linen trousers that would rival a rosebud's softness, and a beautiful leather jacket (which I may have purchased simply for its matching shade of candy floss pink).
From the Colosseum to a Pint of Gelato
Sunday, my bestie Olivia (she's also a secret Pink Tutu fanatic) joined me, and we headed to the Colosseum. This historical masterpiece, full of grand Roman drama and whispering history, left us in awe. Afterwards, a trip to a bustling street market was an absolute must! It's not just about the pasta and mozzarella (though that's amazing!), it's about the energy and laughter - the true pulse of this magnificent city. We got some incredible cheeses, fresh herbs, and olives for our evening feast, a picnic on a rooftop with breathtaking views of the Forum. Later, with full stomachs, we indulged in gelato, a little sprinkle of magic in every lick! (Just a quick tip, it's all about the flavour combos! Strawberry and pistachio - perfection!).
Pizza Perfection, Pasta Parties & the Vatican City
Monday brought a tour of the Vatican City, an intricate masterpiece of art and architecture. I felt like I was stepping back into the Renaissance. Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel? Take my breath away every single time. You really have to see it for yourself. I may have worn my new blush pink linen dress that day - feeling incredibly Italian-chic! And, of course, lunch included a divine margarita pizza, perfectly charred, the cheese a delightful symphony of bubbly joy. The best part? It was enjoyed al fresco with a breathtaking view of St. Peter's Square.
A Tutu Twirl Through Roman Nights
Rome by night is like something out of a movie. We took a walk around the Spanish Steps, feeling a million euros and oh-so-stylish in my sequin top and my go-to tutu. (Gotta get in those twirls!) We found a small hidden courtyard where we danced to some beautiful live music, felt the warm air against our skin, and sipped on sweet cocktails, reminiscing about all the amazing experiences we'd shared.
The Pink Tutu Spread
Speaking of amazing experiences, the beauty of this city isn’t just in its monuments or its art; it’s in the little details. I've discovered an adorable cafe with the most delicious pink cakes and a delightful courtyard where I've taken to practicing my ballet. The music from the street vendors is so inspiring! And did I mention, a delightful pink gelato with edible flowers - absolutely irresistible! It’s all a part of the journey and the PINK of life!
Coming Home, With a Suitcase Full of Memories
Today is my last day, a sad goodbye, but a happy goodbye. I'll be heading back to Derbyshire soon. With a suitcase brimming with souvenirs and inspiration for countless Pink Tutu posts. I'll be carrying with me the warmth of Roman smiles, the echo of history whispering in every corner, and a deeper appreciation for the joy of discovering something new, a bit of beauty, and a touch of Italian flair.
I promise to keep sharing the adventures with you every week, and of course, remind you all: Don't be afraid to wear a pink tutu. Life's too short for anything less.
Ciao Bella!
Love,
