Buongiorno from sunny Rome! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger, and this week I'm whisked away to the Eternal City, a dream location that's filled with history, art, and ā best of all ā stunning fashion.
You know I love travelling by train, and the journey down from Derbyshire was pure joy. As I gazed out the window, the English countryside melted into lush green hills, then sleepy towns, and finally, the vast expanse of Italy stretched before me. I even found a couple of lovely ladies wearing floral dresses and headscarves ā already feeling that chic Italian vibe!
Of course, my luggage was crammed full of tutus. A trusty black one for when I needed a touch of elegance, a bright pink tutu with sequined trim for evenings, and my new "Roman Holiday" number ā a dreamy cream silk creation with a whimsical tulle overskirt that I plan on debuting at the Colosseum this evening!
Iām really enjoying Rome already, although, to be honest, I have a confessionā¦ the cobbled streets are somewhat harder on my ballet shoes than the usual polished dance floors. But who can resist the charming little alleyways leading to stunning churches and historical landmarks? They're simply begging for a good pirouette and some whimsical photographs.
Speaking of photographs, the weather is positively perfect for twirling in the sun. I even spotted a small ballet studio near the Pantheon. The studio has such beautiful antique mirrors ā a must-have for a photoshoot with my signature pink tutu! They also host a variety of classes, including contemporary, ballet, and even a fascinating-sounding "Street Dance and Choreography" workshop for ballet students. I may even give it a go tomorrow, who knows!
And speaking of the Pantheon, did you know they built this architectural marvel in 126 AD?! It's an incredible feat of Roman engineering and I absolutely loved dancing my way around it (without accidentally stepping on the famous hole in the ceiling, of course! - Iām a bit clumsy, I must admit).
I couldn't resist a visit to one of Rome's iconic gelaterias this afternoon. As a huge gelato fan, this was an absolute delight! My gelato was pink, of course - it even had a single pink rose on top - a fruity passionfruit and strawberry creation, perfect after a long morning of exploration.
Tonight is all about the Coliseumā¦ and a show!
The whole place buzzes with an exciting, almost theatrical atmosphere, and the lights glinting off the stone in the dusk make it truly magical. Tonightās the opening night of āLa Traviataā at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. The music and the story are pure romance and tragedy, and I canāt wait to experience the drama unfold on stage! This should be the perfect way to cap off my first day in the Eternal City. I may even have a secret performance to offer the crowd as the cast takes their bowsā¦ Stay tuned to the #PinkTutuRome Instagram page for a glimpse of that!

- Spanish Steps: Stop and pose, a pink tutu definitely brightens up this iconic location.
Day 5: Food & Final Flirts
- Breakfast: Enjoy a delicious cappuccino and freshly baked cornetti for the perfect Roman start to your day.
- Afternoon Sightseeing: Explore Campo deā Fiori, a buzzing marketplace during the day, transforming into a vibrant nightlife area as the evening falls.
- Final Twirl and Farewell: A night in Rome calls for a touch of elegance. Take in a glamorous dinner followed by a final twirl before your departure.
