Pink Tutu Rome: #1548 – The Eternal City Enchants in Pink

Ciao bella! Emma here, bringing you another Wednesday instalment from my pink tutu travels, this time from the dazzling city of Rome. It's Wednesday, February 5th 2025, and as I type this, the Colosseum is basking in the midday sun, just like my pink-tutu-clad heart!

This is my first time in the Italian capital, and so far, it's been nothing short of fantastico! Of course, it wouldn't be a pink tutu adventure without some fabulous fashion finds. I mean, come on, shopping in Rome? It's a fashionista's dream come true! From chic boutiques on Via Condotti to the leather havens of the Pantheon area, my credit card is definitely getting a workout!

My week in Rome started with the most magical way to experience this incredible city – a leisurely train ride from Derbyshire. I absolutely adore train journeys. There’s something so romantic about sitting by the window, watching the world blur past, and imagining the adventures that lie ahead.

Once I arrived in Rome, I was immediately struck by the energy and the vibrancy of the city. Everywhere I looked, there was something new to discover: from the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum to the bustling streets of Trastevere, every corner seemed to hold a story.

The first night, after unpacking my suitcase overflowing with my favourite pink tutu collection, I joined the queue of locals at the Pantheon. You simply can’t go to Rome without taking in the beauty of this marvel of ancient architecture. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t squeal with delight when the building suddenly stood before me bathed in the golden glow of the sunset!

Speaking of marvel, my favourite moment so far was visiting the Vatican Museum, a truly spectacular sight. The incredible architecture and art, especially Michelangelo’s breathtaking Sistine Chapel, are truly something special. Let's just say my phone camera was working overtime, and I couldn't resist striking a few poses in my trusty pink tutu while everyone was captivated by the artwork – a little sprinkle of pink ballerina magic never hurt!

Another highlight was exploring the quirky Trastevere neighbourhood, with its charming cobblestone streets lined with authentic trattorias and artisan shops. I even found a small, independent theatre tucked away in one of the narrow alleyways. They’re performing “Giselle” next week – of course, I'm booking tickets to see the romantic, tragic tale of the famous ballet unfold in the magical setting of a Roman theatre! It’s what dreams are made of!

I have to say, the people of Rome have been incredibly warm and welcoming. Even though my Italian is rather rudimentary, they’ve been more than happy to share their culture with me. Whether it’s sharing a coffee with a local, trying out the tastiest pizzas in the world (did I mention they use the best flour, so light and airy! I am totally hooked!), or exploring the hidden squares in Trastevere, I’m totally loving my Roman experience.

Oh, and speaking of hidden gems, I recently found an adorable vintage boutique where I discovered a gorgeous pair of pale pink ballerina shoes with dainty bows, perfect for a night out in Rome! Of course, I’ll be sporting them with my favourite, new tutu – a delicate powder pink tulle with intricate pearl embellishments – for tonight's ballet performance in a quaint theatre on Piazza Navona!

My fellow pink tutu enthusiasts, if you’re planning a trip to Rome, be sure to take a detour to Piazza Navona to explore the heart of this enchanting city. Just think of it as a pink tutu pilgrimage – just don’t forget to snap a photo with your trusty ballerina shoes!

Oh, and don’t forget to follow me on my pink tutu adventure! I post my weekly Rome diaries every Wednesday on www.pink-tutu.com, so keep an eye out!

Till next time, stay fabulous!

Ciao for now,

Emma xx

P.S. If you see a girl in Rome rocking a pink tutu, wearing ballerina shoes with an infectious smile on her face – that's probably me! Don't be shy! Come say hello.
