Ciao bella! This is Emma, your resident pink-tutu wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, back from a whirlwind adventure in the Eternal City, Rome! Buckle up, darlings, because this one’s a corker.
I arrived in Rome on the train from Florence. Now, I adore train travel, I think it's the most romantic and civilised way to travel. There’s something so chic and stylish about gliding through the countryside with a book and a cuppa. This journey was no exception! Of course, I donned my most glamorous pink ensemble - a baby pink tulle skirt, my lucky ruby red ballerina flats, and a white crochet top – all topped off with my signature pink bow! Even the grumpy old conductor had to crack a smile at my outfit.
Stepping off the train in Rome was like entering a time capsule. I swear I could almost hear the tinkling of horse-drawn carriages! The energy was electric, the air buzzing with excitement and chatter in a million different languages. The cobbled streets were teeming with people and delicious smells drifted through the air – oh, the anticipation was killing me! Rome, you enchantress, I was ready to be your prisoner!
Rome on a Wednesday: Shopping, Ballet, and HistoryFirst stop on my agenda? Of course, it had to be a fashion fix! This time, it was the legendary Via Condotti - think Prada, Dior, Gucci – I was in a shopping nirvana! My inner girly-girl squealed with delight! There was such a kaleidoscope of beautiful clothing to peruse. I, of course, stuck to pink hues for my own wardrobe, adding a beautiful soft pink cashmere cardigan, and some ballet inspired flats in a pale blush. Rome just knows how to tempt me!
The Eternal City - Ballet in the City of Angels:
Later, it was time to immerse myself in a little culture, and what better way to do it than with a ballet performance? The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma - the Opera House in Rome - held a special ballet program featuring my favourite composer - Tchaikovsky! This was a show to rival all shows. A stunning performance of "Swan Lake" complete with gorgeous costumes and breathtaking choreography. The story truly brought me to tears and had me dancing in my seat throughout! The energy, passion, and skill were truly awe-inspiring.
Fashion Meets History:
The next day was all about history and culture with a touch of pink of course. I hit up the Colosseum - a majestic marvel, but I just knew that my baby pink tutu would make for a fabulous picture, which, naturally, I had to capture for my blog. This historical masterpiece has stood the test of time. It's a monument to power, ambition, and just a bit of a showmanship - a bit like my ballet career really!
But Rome isn't all about ancient ruins, there are gorgeous gardens as well. Borghese Gallery and Gardens was like walking into a fairytale with statues and fountains scattered across manicured lawns. I danced through the gardens in my pink tutu, stopping to snap photos and just take in the magic of the place. My followers went wild for these!
La Dolce Vita with a Twist of Pink:
The nights in Rome were every bit as spectacular as the days! We feasted like Roman emperors – think creamy pastas, succulent seafood, and enough pizza to satisfy an army. I dined like a queen on an open terrace, beneath the stars, sipping wine and dreaming.
For the final night, it was time for a ballet extravaganza! I chose to indulge in an Italian classic - La Scala, in the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. This is the home of opera and ballet and certainly a grand stage indeed! The beauty of the theater was exquisite with gilded decorations and plush red seats. I sat mesmerised, a vision of pink amidst a sea of elegance.
A Love Letter to Pink: The Magic of ItalyMy adventure in Rome was nothing short of magical! I fell head over heels for the ancient history, the buzzing energy of the city, the beautiful art, and the passion that pulsates through every street.
Italy stole a piece of my heart, and I am sure I’ll be back, but before I leave this beautiful city, I wanted to leave you with a little something – a plea to embrace the magic of pink. Let’s all embrace our inner ballerina and show the world that pink is the color of dreams, creativity, and limitless possibilities. Until next week, darlings, keep those pink tutus twirling!
Ciao bella!
