Hello gorgeous readers! Welcome to #PinkTutuRome! Itās Wednesday 12th March 2025, and you know what that means? A brand new post for www.pink-tutu.com, ready to inspire your inner ballerina and share a sprinkle of my Roman adventures with you!
Rome, the Eternal City! My 25th birthday fell right in the middle of this whirlwind trip, and let me tell you, this Italian beauty truly lived up to all the hype! I knew Rome would be an enchanting city, but even I, with my world-renowned fashion sense and my discerning love for beautiful things, was completely blown away by this incredible place!
Train Travels: This week Iām kicking things off by saying, goodbye to long haul flights and a huge shoutout to European trains! I boarded a lovely Eurostar from Derbyshire, making the most of the sleek leather seats and excellent wifi while travelling towards sunny Italy! My journey took me to Paris, a pitstop for delicious macarons, then through picturesque landscapes, before arriving in Romeās Termini station - my first ever experience on a high-speed train!
A City That Steals Your Heart š®š¹
Stepping onto the platform and feeling the warm Roman air, it truly felt like I was entering a scene straight from a movie! Everything seemed so impossibly romantic ā the cobbled streets, the warm terracotta roofs, and those majestic buildings that seem to reach towards the skyā¦ the beauty truly was overwhelming!
Dress to Impress š
Now, you all know that no trip for me is complete without a suitcase overflowing with perfectly coordinated pink tutus. Rome has been an absolute dream for my wardrobe! From elegant ball gowns that sparkled with sequin magic, to fluffy, layered tulle tutus, my pink outfits have been turning heads all week, just as a well-crafted, full-body outfit should! The shops in Rome are pure magic - from high-street gems to luxurious couture boutiques. I even managed to grab a pair of handcrafted, ruby-red leather pumps. (Yes, they do truly make the outfit!)
Rome, Through a Pink-Tinted Lens š
Rome is not just a city, itās an experience! A blend of ancient history, artistic wonder, and exquisite Italian flavour.
Hereās what you can expect to see if you follow in my fabulous pink tutued footsteps:
1. Ancient Treasures & Eternal Beauty:
Colosseum - Honestly, the size of this place takes your breath away. Imagine thousands of people packed inside, cheering on gladiators battling to their deaths, the atmosphere must have been electric! A powerful moment of history, which felt like I stepped into a time capsule. My tutu swished and twirled beautifully amidst the ruins, so if you want your picture to go viral, definitely get your tutu on for the āGram!
Roman Forum: Where emperors walked, poets wrote and artists painted. The Forum truly is the beating heart of ancient Rome, a place of inspiration that connects us to the past in a magical way. This is the kind of place that begs you to close your eyes and just listen to the echo of history, whispers carried across time, a truly remarkable experience.
Pantheon: This incredible masterpiece with its dome that seems to touch the sky, and the intricate detailsā¦ wow! This is the kind of place that just takes your breath away and you know is just waiting to be filled with pink tutus.
Trevi Fountain - Of course, we couldn't miss the chance to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain, a tradition to ensure we'd be coming back to this dazzling city one day! (Oh, and for good luck of course.) This iconic fountain was packed full of people, all wishing on its waters and tossing coins with hopeful wishes. There are plenty of opportunities for dazzling photographs here.
2. The Vatican, Holy and Amazing!
I had to make the pilgrimage to the Vatican City. What an incredible sight! It felt like stepping into a sacred dream. St Peterās Basilica is breathtaking. I simply couldn't resist a twirl in front of this amazing masterpiece! My pink tutu looked incredible with the majestic frescoes, sculptures, and gold dĆ©cor! I almost felt like Iād stepped into a fairytale, like a real-life storybook! The grandeur of the space made me feel so humbled, the detail in every nook and cranny left me in awe. What a place to feel blessed and thankful!
3. Italian Flavours to Swoon Over!
Rome was an absolute gastronomic delight. From mouth-watering pizzas and the creamiest gelato, to steaming hot pasta dishes and delicate tiramisu, the flavours were bursting with sunshine.
I had to try the authentic pizza margherita. The perfect combination of a crispy base, mozzarella melting into perfection, a sprinkle of oregano, and the perfect drizzle of tomato sauce ā oh, and of course a generous slice of pepperoni! Pizza has got to be my new favorite food! I also indulged in the best cappuccino and the most perfectly layered tiramisu! My tummy and my soul were in complete and utter bliss!
I found the most charming little bakery around the corner from my hotel, where I fell in love with the sweetest almond cakes. And yes, thereās always space for a few extra pink macarons - just one more, I tell myselfā¦ hehe.
4. Ballet in Rome - Magic in Motion
Rome doesnāt only capture your heart with ancient ruins and magnificent buildings; itās also a city filled with art and culture, with music pouring out of every corner. And for me, that meant an opportunity to catch a ballet show. I have to tell you, seeing āLa Bella Dormenteā by the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma was a true delight. Watching the dancers twirling on stage, their grace and precision just blew me away, all bathed in the soft spotlight, made for the perfect ballet experience. Thereās something so incredibly romantic and beautiful about ballet - every move is poetry in motion.
I even snuck into a ballets street class for a little private session. The instructor gave me some killer new moves ā a total ballet girl's dream! The best thing about ballet street is that everyone is welcomed, with no judgment! It's just a chance to be creative and express yourself, and weāre all pink tutu queens for the night.
5. Roman Nights to Remember!
As the sun began to set and the city bathed in the magical golden glow of twilight, it was time to discover the magic of Roman nightlife.
One evening we explored Trastevere, a beautiful neighborhood overflowing with character. The streets buzzed with locals and tourists, indulging in delicious wine, enjoying delicious Italian street food and live music from local bands. This neighbourhood was just perfect for my pink tutu adventures. I even stopped for some delicious spaghetti alla gricia with crispy guanciale!
- Another night was a trip to the famous Piazza Navona. The magic of the square just kept on unfolding; we witnessed talented artists displaying their beautiful work, watched acrobatic performers enthral crowds and stopped to marvel at the stunning Bernini fountains. If you can grab yourself a street side cappuccino (or gelato, because why not!) then youāve found pure Italian bliss!
