Pink Tutu Rome: #1580 - A Ballerina's Italian Dream

Hello darlings!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... it's Pink Tutu time! This week, we're taking a grand Italian adventure, from the rolling hills of Derbyshire to the stunning city of Rome. My suitcase is bursting with tulle and sequins, and I’ve already got my sights set on finding the perfect pink gelato – it's almost as essential as the perfect tutu, you know!

This trip has been a long time coming, and I’m so excited to finally share my Roman escapades with you.

Rome – The Eternal City

As we trundled through the Italian countryside, the train journey was a blur of stunning views. Rolling hills, ancient towns, and picturesque vineyards whizzed past my window – it felt like stepping into a film set! The excitement was palpable, and I practically burst out of my seat with each passing moment.

Reaching the station, I practically skipped through the bustling streets to my hotel – an elegant, classic place, right in the heart of Rome. The marble floors felt so grand beneath my pink-toned ballet shoes, and the fragrant jasmine blooming in the courtyard reminded me that even in the bustling city, serenity could still be found.

Ballet in the Eternal City

After unpacking my tulle wardrobe, naturally, I made my way to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I just couldn't come all this way without seeing some magnificent ballet! The programme was sensational: "La Bayadere" by Marius Petipa - the perfect combination of intricate choreography and breathtaking costuming.

The atmosphere was electrifying. The grand theatre itself was a marvel - opulent and stunning, with immense gilded detailing that took my breath away. Seeing the dancers float across the stage in their magnificent costumes was an absolute joy – their precision and passion ignited the whole theatre! I’d say the show certainly lived up to its expectations!

Pink Tutu Style in Rome

Now, Rome is a city bursting with incredible style. Everywhere I turn, I'm captivated by the gorgeous architecture, the stunning statues, the artistic flourishes – and of course, the chic Romans! I must admit, my heart leaped a bit when I saw a Roman lady rocking a beautiful, pink chiffon skirt. Just like my tutus, but perhaps a little less flamboyant for the streets of Rome.

My personal Rome uniform has become a flowing white skirt paired with a delicate pink camisole. Of course, I added my signature pink feather boa and, wouldn’t you know it, I stumbled upon a fabulous vintage pink beret just for this trip! I have been twirling my way around the Colosseum, taking photos in the romantic Piazza Navona, and, of course, snapping shots by the majestic Trevi Fountain! Oh, how I do love a photo-op!

Foodie Adventures

Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without delicious food. The smell of fresh bread and pasta, and the aroma of coffee roasting in the air – it’s just intoxicating! I've sampled so many wonderful dishes, from the classic carbonara (creamy, heavenly!) to artichokes, perfectly fried. My absolute favourite find has to be a gelato place tucked away on a quiet back street, a hidden gem with the most delectable gelato flavors – pistachio, strawberry, and even a flavour with tiny shards of pink meringue! A true testament to the beauty of both colour and taste!

Making Every Moment a Memory

The Romans love to laugh, and their warm, cheerful personalities are infectious. I’ve been treated to so many lovely moments of laughter and warmth, sharing stories, and enjoying simple moments together – like sharing a cup of coffee with a friendly local shopkeeper. I’m so grateful for the kindness and warm hospitality I've experienced so far. It’s just a little bit magic.

Coming Up Next Week:

My adventures in Rome continue next week – I'll be taking you along for a guided tour through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, where I’ll be imagining gladiators battling in the ancient arena. Then, we’re visiting the Galleria Borghese to marvel at some stunning art, and I’ll be trying out some fantastic shopping – after all, Rome is the ultimate place to find the perfect pieces for a ballerina's wardrobe!

So, stay tuned, my darling tutu wearers! And remember, always find your inner ballerina, let your true self shine through, and embrace your own sparkle and joy, no matter where your adventures take you!

Ciao!

Emma xoxo
