Welcome to #PinkTutuRome, blog post number 1581! It's Wednesday, the 24th of September 2025, and the sun is shining on the Eternal City. I'm buzzing, my fellow tutu-wearers, as today I'm exploring Rome – a city steeped in history and brimming with fashion! I know I've been rather busy with the latest ballet performances, travelling by train up and down the UK and across Europe (did you see my Giselle performance in Berlin?!), but I simply had to share Rome's vibrant energy with you.
I always say that a little bit of pink tulle can liven up any city, and Rome is no exception. Think cascading fountains, breathtaking basilicas, and gelato stands – all with a touch of pink, of course! I've already started spotting some fabulously stylish Roman ladies, and I'm confident that, with a little encouragement, a few more of them will embrace the pink tutu lifestyle!
Where I’m staying:
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome post without mentioning my hotel, the luxurious and utterly charming Grand Hotel Palazzo della Fonte. The Italian sunshine bathes its pastel pink exterior in a glow, and my suite? Let's just say it has a splendid balcony with views overlooking the city. I’ve already planned a morning of leisurely sightseeing, sipping cappuccino in my chicest polka-dot dress (think Audrey Hepburn chic!).
The Roman Circus Maximus:
This morning, I felt an inexplicable pull towards the Roman Circus Maximus. It's not every day you get to walk through history like that, you know! I mean, imagine the Romans, their tunics flowing in the wind, roaring their approval! You’ll find me later today strutting my pink tulle right down the centre, imagining I’m performing in a ballet spectacle worthy of the Emperors! Don't be surprised to see my Instagram bursting with photos!
An Evening at the Opera:
There's something special about an Italian opera. It's all about passionate voices, beautiful melodies, and, of course, incredible costumes! This evening I'm experiencing the magic of "Rigoletto" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, wearing, of course, a fabulous pink tutu with a hint of glitter. Can't wait! Rome certainly has a romantic charm to it – just like a ballet.
Shopping Spree in Rome:
You just know that a trip to Rome can't be complete without a little retail therapy, can it? I heard there’s a vintage store just around the corner from my hotel where I’m dreaming of finding an original ballerina costume (perhaps even in pink!). Rome is just bursting with those incredible Italian designers who know how to put the glamour into life – like my darling Gucci! They know how to give a girl an air about her, you know?! I must tell you, darling readers, it’s all slightly overwhelming; it is Rome after all.
The Food is FABULOUS!
One thing that has totally blown me away is the food! I have to indulge in a pasta a la carbonara - I hear the restaurants make their own tagliatelle ! Then I must treat myself to some gelato, right? Pink gelato, of course!
A Tutu-filled Walk Through Rome:
My plans are quite ambitious – I mean, Rome is full of such beautiful piazzas and charming little lanes - just the kind of settings you can imagine dancers waltzing down in their tutus! Maybe I’ll just wander the Colosseum at sunset, with its historical echoes – oh! and perhaps a quick visit to the Trevi Fountain for some extra wishes for pink-tutu adventures!
