Hello my darling darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, back from the breathtaking, historic, and utterly fabulous city of Rome!
This week's Pink Tutu adventure took me on a journey by train - my favourite way to travel - through the rolling countryside, stopping at picturesque towns and soaking in the atmosphere, all before arriving in the heart of this incredible city.
Rome, oh Rome, you stole my heart. The ancient ruins, the charming piazzas, the delectable food - I felt like I'd stepped into a classic Italian movie, complete with stylish men in suits and the sweet melodies of street musicians.
I was ready to share all the pink-tastic adventures, delicious food, and stunning sights with you, but first, let's get to the Pink Tutu Moment of the Week!
This week's highlight was definitely attending the "Opera Roma" Ballet Show at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! I slipped on my new blush pink tulle tutu, feeling like a princess about to waltz into a fairytale. The grandeur of the theatre was simply magical. We had amazing seats with perfect views of the entire stage, and the ballerinas were just exquisite. Their elegant moves, the flow of their silk tutus, and the intricate storytelling of the ballet transported me to a different world. The combination of grace, artistry, and sheer athleticism was mesmerising, leaving me speechless.
Speaking of speechless, the entire audience applauded and cheered wildly as each act came to a close. I mean, can you blame them? This was truly a phenomenal performance. You could just feel the passion for dance and the love of music radiating through the room.
I'm convinced a Pink Tutu can enhance even the grandest of ballet experiences. I even caught a few awestruck gazes at my pink tulle and vibrant pink handbag. People seem to be getting the message about the power of pink! 💖
But my adventure wasn't just about ballet and the theatre. I took full advantage of the beautiful weather by strolling through the bustling Piazza Navona - its awe-inspiring fountains, incredible artists showcasing their work, and delicious street food, had me completely mesmerized. This iconic square has such a vibrant energy and it was the perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere and let my imagination run wild.
Another must-do? Of course, exploring the Colosseum! Imagine the gladiators, the roars of the crowd, the drama and danger. Just standing amongst the ancient stones brought the history to life. It was like stepping back in time. And let me tell you, I didn't feel one bit out of place in my vibrant pink tutu as I strolled around this fascinating relic of ancient Rome. The pink tulle practically glowed in the afternoon sun.
Food? Don't even get me started! This Italian haven was a foodie's paradise. From pizza and pasta to gelato and tiramisu - every meal was an explosion of flavours. And it wasn't just the food that was fabulous, it was the entire experience! The charming cafes, the cobbled streets, and the authentic Italian hospitality just added to the magic of it all.
And while the city was undoubtedly beautiful and historical, I had to find the perfect pink ensemble for my Roman adventure! I did a bit of shopping at the Via Condotti - that infamous fashion street where every boutique is a gem! I found the most exquisite pastel pink blouse, perfectly tailored for my slender ballerina physique, paired it with a dazzling fuchsia skirt. My bright pink shoes, with sparkly silver detailing, completed this outfit. I was definitely ready to embrace all of Rome in my Pink Tutu ensemble!
One thing you should definitely add to your itinerary, is the charming Trastevere neighbourhood! It’s full of charming cobblestone streets, cozy trattorias serving mouthwatering dishes, and bustling market stalls with artisanal treasures. I even snagged a bright pink handcrafted jewellery box for my ballet accessories.
Now, as I'm writing this from a charming little cafe on the Spanish Steps, sipping my cappuccino, it's clear Rome is a city of dreams, art, and deliciousness.
