Ciao bella! Itās Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, writing to you from the heart of Rome! The Eternal City is a whirlwind of ancient history, vibrant culture, and delicious gelato, all wrapped up in a gloriously sunny Italian charm. This week, I'm embracing the Italian "la dolce vita" in my own signature style - with a touch of pink tulle, of course!
Itās hard to believe itās been a whole year since my last trip to Italy! This time, Iām taking the train all the way from Derbyshire. Travelling by rail always feels so romantic, especially in Europe. I even managed to squeeze in a quick ballet performance in Florence on my way through - a gorgeous āGiselleā with the most breathtaking choreography Iāve ever seen. Of course, no train journey is complete without my trusty pink travel tutu. Itās the perfect way to add a splash of colour and elegance to any journey. And the extra layer of tulle is just the ticket for keeping warm on those chilly carriage rides!
A Roman Ballet Feast
One of the things I love most about Rome is its dedication to the arts, particularly dance! This evening, Iām off to see āThe Nutcrackerā at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Iāve heard fantastic things about their production, and I simply cannot wait to see the magnificent costumes and choreography against the backdrop of the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera. Iāll be sure to share all the details with you in next weekās blog, complete with plenty of outfit inspiration!
Shopping Therapy and Tulle Temptations
While in Rome, it's impossible not to indulge in a little retail therapy! And this city is brimming with stylish boutiques, from chic vintage stores to high-end designer flagships. Yesterday, I discovered a fabulous vintage clothing store nestled in the Trastevere district. It was overflowing with fabulous vintage treasures! I found a stunning pink silk scarf with intricate embroidery and a delicate gold chain, and, of course, couldn't resist picking up a gorgeous, billowy vintage tulle skirt to add to my tutu collection!
Pink Tutu Sightseeing
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without exploring its iconic landmarks! Yesterday, I took a wander around the Roman Forum. Itās incredible to think that such ancient structures still stand tall today, bearing witness to centuries of history. I was mesmerised by the ruins and couldn't help but feel transported back in time, I even had my very own Roman fashion photo shoot. It felt like I was on the set of "Gladiator" with a dash of "Pink Tutu"! It was quite a sight, with my pink tutu and sparkly ballet shoes amongst the majestic marble!
Foodie Delights and Tulle Inspiration
And now for the best part - Italian food! My stomach has already sampled the best pizzas, pastas, and gelato! Rome's foodie scene is as vibrant as the city itself. I simply cannot get enough of the authentic Roman flavours, and have already made it my mission to sample every type of pizza, every type of gelato and pasta that Rome can offer! This trip to Rome has definitely re-inspired my love of food! Maybe I'll incorporate a bit of Italian flair into my ballet class routines, with flowing movements and lots of twirls that evoke the feeling of dancing among Roman ruins and feasting on delicious Italian dishes!
Spreading the Tutu Love
On my adventures in Rome, I have been encouraging as many locals as possible to wear a pink tutu! You never know where you might find a new tutu convert, and the joy and smiles it brings are infectious.
So far, my adventures in Rome have been magical! This trip to the Eternal City is definitely living up to its name, and Iām only halfway through my Italian adventure!
