Ciao Bella!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new #PinkTutuRome blog post, straight from the Eternal City! This week I'm bubbling over with excitement, as Rome has just about blown my tiny pink tutu-clad mind.
I love a good train journey, and arriving at Roma Termini station felt like stepping straight into a film. The vast space buzzing with life, the incredible architecture, even the delicious smell of pizza in the air – Rome, you're already winning me over!
Before I set off on exploring, though, I couldn't resist a quick ballet stop. Did you know there's a beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma just a hop, skip, and a twirl away? I spent a heavenly hour browsing through the programme for the autumn season. "La Bayadère" caught my eye – ooh, how I adore those Eastern inspired stories and lavish sets. I may need to catch a show during my stay!
Speaking of shows, did you know that this week (15th October) Rome is hosting the "Notte Bianca", a festival of art and culture where the city truly comes alive? It's going to be a frenzy of live music, open-air performances, museum openings - oh, I can't wait to soak it all up!
I have a hunch I'm going to see plenty of tutu inspiration for my own street performances tonight - imagine, twirling by the Trevi Fountain! I might even create my own impromptu mini performance for a bit of pink-tutu-fluffiness amongst the vibrant Italian atmosphere.
Anyway, back to my adventures. Let's start with the must-sees! Today I've wandered the cobbled streets, lost myself in the awe-inspiring grandeur of the Colosseum, been wowed by the Trevi Fountain (it's even more magnificent than you imagine!), and taken in the Roman Forum - history buffs, be prepared for some serious daydreaming!
I even found the most adorable little cafe for lunch, all charming terracotta and hanging flowers, serving the best pasta carbonara I've ever tasted! The creamy, cheesy goodness was utterly divine, a must for any foodie visitor. Of course, I've snagged some photos of the cafe to share with you lovely lot later. You might even get a glimpse of my fabulous new Roman sandals that I picked up in a charming little vintage shop this morning! (They're pink, obviously).
Rome is just bursting with fashion inspiration, which is truly what a pink tutu lover like me needs.
Every corner holds another fascinating discovery – grand churches with breathtaking architecture, art galleries teeming with history, little trattorias oozing with delicious scents... the whole experience is incredibly sensory. The city is also bursting with little artisan shops and boutique fashion stores; I haven't been able to resist picking up a few souvenirs and, you guessed it, a stunning pink scarf that screams "Rome!"
After my whirlwind day of exploration, I found myself at the bustling Piazza Navona. A flurry of artists, street performers, and tourists, it felt like a little bit of Italian magic! And oh my, did you know the little gelato cart by the fountains is famous for its Pink Pistachio gelato? You know me, I had to give it a try.
And yes, it is as divine as you might imagine! I have a sneaking suspicion my pink tutu-loving self may be spending the rest of my stay gorging myself on this divine treat.
As evening descended, Rome seemed to whisper, "The night is young." And it was! The energy here is intoxicating; it's easy to see why the city has been a centre for artistic brilliance for so many years. I can feel an evening of culture, laughter, and perhaps even a bit of impromptu dancing in my future. I've found the most fabulous rooftop bar overlooking the cityscape with stunning views of the illuminated Coliseum - a true visual feast for the eyes!
And who knows? Maybe I'll even have the courage to unleash my inner ballerina and do a little spontaneous performance amongst the locals! They do love a good show here in Rome.
The #PinkTutuRome adventure has only just begun. This beautiful city has already captured my heart with its captivating energy and passionate spirit. I can't wait to see what wonders tomorrow holds - maybe a delicious "pranzo" (lunch), another breathtaking view, or a stunning performance. But, most importantly, it'll be filled with the vibrant magic of Rome and, of course, the touch of pink tutu fun!
See you all next week for another #PinkTutuRome blog post, with even more tales to share. Until then, happy dancing!
