Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #1585)

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure. I'm writing this from a charming little cafe overlooking the Trevi Fountain, my pink tutu (naturally) billowing around me as I sip on the most delicious cappuccino you can imagine. Let's dive in, shall we?

I landed in Rome last Thursday, arriving at the majestic Termini station in a cloud of excitement. Oh, the sheer joy of train travel, especially when you can practically hear the history in every clunk and click! After grabbing a delectable pizza for lunch (because even a ballerina needs carbs, darling!), I checked into my hotel. It was a delightful little boutique hotel, just off the Piazza Navona. Can we just take a moment to appreciate how fabulous this city is? It's like stepping into a history book, every corner buzzing with energy and ancient magic.

The real fun began the next day. Rome's street performers are a spectacle in themselves! There's a particular Italian street ballerina whose artistry is truly phenomenal, a real inspiration. You've got to see it to believe it. (Tip: Keep your eyes peeled near the Pantheon - she usually hangs out there).

And the shopping, darlings? Heaven. From vintage boutiques to high-end ateliers, Rome offers something for every style. This week, I fell head-over-heels for a silk scarf emblazoned with the Colosseum (imagine the perfect outfit: pink tutu, white silk top, Colosseum scarf - divine!) And a pair of strappy, crystal-encrusted heels โ€“ I can't resist a touch of sparkle, can I?

But enough about my personal sartorial choices, let's talk ballet. My itinerary this week is bursting at the seams with stunning shows. First, on Monday night, I saw a captivating performance at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. They're doing a magnificent staging of "Swan Lake." I've got chills just thinking about it, and it's just the start.

Let's get social! This Saturday, there's a fantastic open-air dance workshop happening in the heart of Trastevere. If you're a budding ballerina, you absolutely must go! Think sunshine, music, and a fantastic chance to learn new moves.

The highlight of my trip? Well, that's easy. On Thursday, 24th October, I'll be at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza for the highly-anticipated "Bellini & Bellini" show, an electrifying evening featuring two extraordinary ballet dancers, Alessandro Bellini and his partner. Think acrobatic brilliance, powerful expressions, and a splash of romanticism โ€“ a perfect blend of grace and grit. And as an added bonus, Vicenza itself is an architectural wonder, so make sure to explore this gem of a city too!

I know what you're thinking: how can I possibly squeeze all this into one week? Trust me, darling, you can. My secret? Efficient planning (and of course, the energy-boosting power of my trusty pink tutus!). And don't worry about logistics โ€“ this blog has got your back!

Speaking of, my upcoming travel itinerary is already starting to fill up. I'm headed to Florence next, followed by a whirl through Venice, and maybe even a little stop in Switzerland โ€“ depending on my dance schedule, naturally.

So, that's it for this week, my dear pink tutu enthusiasts. Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for my latest Roman escapades.

Keep twirling, Emma xx
