Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina, reporting live from the Eternal City – Rome!
The train journey here was simply divine. I love travelling by train; there’s just something about the rhythmic clatter, the changing scenery and the feeling of being whisked away on an adventure that makes my heart sing!
My pink tutu, of course, made a grand entrance – I wouldn't be caught dead travelling without it. It's the perfect travel companion, adding a touch of whimsical elegance to any situation. Plus, it’s guaranteed to spark a conversation! The lovely Italian signora opposite me even complimented me on my style, saying “Bellissima! " – which I think means beautiful! How’s that for a fashion statement on a train?
We arrived in Rome at lunchtime, just in time to devour the most delicious panini I've ever tasted. I wouldn't call myself a foodie, but there’s something about a fresh, crusty roll filled with the most glorious cheeses and cured meats that sets my heart aflutter! It was definitely a taste of the Roman lifestyle.
The first thing that struck me about Rome was the incredible energy. The bustling streets, the chatter, the smell of espresso and pastries in the air... It's like a city alive with passion and excitement! It was a whirlwind of colour, history and excitement.
We started by exploring the Spanish Steps – so beautiful! I must admit, my trusty pink tutu received quite a few admiring glances. I swear, this pink number has a magical way of captivating the attention of everyone we meet! It's like the tutu's the ultimate ice breaker! After taking a million photos, naturally, we indulged in some delicious gelato (so much better than ice cream!) with its divine flavours.
Of course, my mission is always to make sure people understand that everyone can wear a pink tutu. There’s this beautiful older woman walking a little terrier, I even encouraged her to pose for a snap wearing my tutu. We both giggled! And she actually wanted to buy it. Oh, darling, the tutu travels far and wide! It's not about being perfect – it's about embracing your individuality!
Later in the afternoon, we headed to the Colosseum. It's absolutely mind-blowing! Imagine standing where gladiators fought to the death and the Roman emperors watched the spectacle. The sheer scale of the building just left me speechless. It truly felt like stepping back in time. But even as I explored this ancient monument, I couldn't resist adding a dash of my own personal style – twirling through the historic ruins in my pink tutu! It might sound like a crazy mix, but darling, it's just who I am!
That evening, we had the most fabulous traditional Roman dinner with our friends from Derbyshire. They are, after all, why I'm here in this beautiful city – to explore a new country and embrace new adventures! Everything tasted divine! The wine, the pasta, the artichoke hearts… And I was definitely delighted to discover a pink Roman wine – so perfectly in theme, naturally.
The day was a complete triumph! And as we watched the sun set on the city skyline, bathed in a warm, rosy glow – I had the most wonderful feeling that our Roman adventure had just begun!
Stay tuned, my darlings, for next week's post – we’re going to dive deep into the art world, explore some amazing galleries and maybe even attend a breathtaking ballet performance. You know me! What's a trip to the beautiful city of Rome without a touch of ballet? Ciao for now, but keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com for more fabulous stories. Until then, stay beautiful, darlings!
Yours in Pink,
Emma xx
