Hello my dearest Tutu Tribe! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new Pink Tutu Rome blog post! I'm so excited to share my latest adventures in this magnificent city with you.
This week, I’ve been whisked away by a train journey that was almost as fabulous as my outfit. You know me, I simply couldn’t resist a stunning new pink and silver polka dot number that positively sparkled in the sun! The carriage was crammed with tourists of every shape, size and colour, each with their own fascinating story.
And speaking of stories…
I arrived in Rome on Tuesday and already my camera is brimming with pictures to share. My first stop was, of course, a chic little boutique in the heart of the city. I simply couldn’t resist the bright pink dress that just screamed ‘Roman Holiday’, adorned with a beautiful flower detail. The fabric was so soft and swishy, perfect for twirling under the Colosseum!
Speaking of the Colosseum, the iconic structure lived up to all my expectations. I even had a rather thrilling moment when I bumped into a handsome Roman legionnaire - he was sporting a rather impressive moustache and was kind enough to pose for a selfie!
On Wednesday morning, I started the day with a proper Roman breakfast - coffee so strong it practically jumped out of the cup, followed by a selection of delectable pastries that would make even the most hardened gym-goer crack.
Afterwards, I was blessed with a wonderful opportunity: to witness a ballet performance by some of the most talented dancers in Italy. The theatre was bathed in an ethereal glow, and the grace and artistry of the dancers moved me deeply. I particularly enjoyed the graceful leaps and the elegant spins; I was transported to another world, my own pink tutu world! I’ve been attending ballet shows since I was a tiny tot, and my passion for dance is simply unmatched. Nothing inspires me more than watching those incredible ballerinas and dancers take to the stage, transforming before my very eyes!
The ballet company I saw today had such a magnificent presence, so much fluidity and grace. The costumes were vibrant and evocative, and the music brought tears to my eyes. It’s moments like this, in the company of passionate performers, that make me truly feel at home. It was the kind of experience that makes you want to pull on your own tutu and dance on the moon, all the way home!
Later that evening, my dear friend Alessandra (she runs a charming little vintage boutique just down the street from the Trevi Fountain) took me on a journey to one of Rome’s best-kept secrets, an elegant little gelateria that makes its own ice cream using locally-sourced ingredients. It was an absolute dream come true, and the flavours were truly delightful. I particularly enjoyed the ‘Pink Grapefruit Sorbet’, a perfect symphony of floral notes and refreshing zest. I couldn’t resist taking a cheeky picture, tutu and all, as I devoured it on a bench overlooking the Roman Forum, with the moon a shimmering jewel above. It was pure magic!
But my day was not yet over!
This being a Wednesday, my darling Tutu Tribe, you know what that means, right? Yes, I spent the remainder of the evening indulging in the art of shopping. My heart leaped with joy as I discovered the most amazing vintage pink tutu in a dusty little store tucked away behind the Pantheon! I absolutely adore how Rome seems to embrace the old and the new, creating this captivating juxtaposition of ancient ruins and modern design, street food stalls, and designer boutiques!
Speaking of design, it would be remiss of me not to mention my absolute passion for clothes! This city is a fashion paradise, overflowing with gorgeous, stylish stores and street-style icons. It was difficult to leave the gorgeous selection of handbags in the designer shops – so many colours! But I finally settled for a fabulous straw hat to complete my Roman holiday ensemble.
It's true what they say – you can't be in Rome without a fabulous hat. And I may have bought another, maybe two… pink, of course. I can't leave a gorgeous, new pink hat in a beautiful, Parisian style shop. They practically scream my name, don’t you agree?
It's days like these that fill me with absolute joy and gratitude. Seeing new sights, tasting incredible cuisine, and indulging in all that makes my little heart flutter, it’s absolutely breathtaking! This city truly has it all.
If you’re dreaming of a city steeped in history, art, and fashion, a place to soak up the sun and relax, then Rome should be top of your list!
As for me, I have so much more to see, to explore, and of course, to shop for! This fabulous adventure in pink is far from over. So make sure to tune in next week for more adventures in my Pink Tutu World!
Until next time, keep twirling!
With love and twirls,
Emma xx
