It's Wednesday, August 26th, 2026, and I've been in Rome for a whole week now, and let me tell you, I'm absolutely smitten. It's like a beautiful ballet performance, but in real life!
Arriving in Rome: A Grand Entrance
I always love a good train journey, and this one was no exception. I boarded the sleek Eurostar train in London, the anticipation fizzing in the air like a thousand tutus. My trusty pink luggage bag (matching my latest pink tutu of course!) sat beside me, as I gazed out the window at the English countryside fade into the rolling hills of Italy. The whole journey was just dreamy, like something straight out of a fairytale.
Rome Termini station is truly something special! Imagine stepping off the train and into a beautiful, ancient, grand hall filled with the bustle of travellers. That was Rome, it was pure magic. I instantly knew I was going to love it.
Finding My Florence: Hotel Chic in Rome
I'd done my research and chosen a beautiful hotel in the Trastevere district. I couldn't have chosen better - It was a stylish haven, filled with soft hues of rose and blush pink (perfect for my wardrobe of pink tutus!), with comfy velvet sofas and marble floors, and of course, stunning views. You know I adore finding places with that extra special touch, like vintage floral prints and charming antique mirrors.
The moment I settled into my room, I popped on a playlist of Italian classics. Oh my, I'm already falling head over heels for this city. It's such a wonderful, feminine place! Even the pigeons look stylish!
My First Day in Rome: A Tutus-and-Treasures Adventure
The next morning, I woke up and, like the little ballerina I am, was so excited to explore. It was a gloriously sunny day, the perfect weather for dancing on cobblestone streets. I slipped on my new "Rosa Roma" tutu (inspired by all things pink and Rome!), it was a gorgeous blush colour with delicate floral embroidery and it was just so feminine and utterly romantic.
Of course, no Rome adventure is complete without indulging in some retail therapy. The shops around Trastevere were absolutely charming - full of lovely fabrics, delicate jewels, and those beautiful hand-painted ceramics that look like they came from an Italian grandmother's secret stash. And of course, I found a new tutu! I had to – a light-as-air, airy tulle tutu that was the perfect shade of lilac, it practically swirled in the warm breeze.
Evening Entertainment: A Night of Opera Magic
After an afternoon spent wandering, window-shopping and indulging in creamy gelato (pink, of course!), I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Opera. I’d seen a production at Covent Garden back home and was so impressed.
Stepping into the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, a beautifully restored theatre built in the late 19th century, I felt transported into a magical world. The rich velvety seats were inviting and the air itself seemed to shimmer with anticipation. I loved how the auditorium had this intricate golden trim and detailed ceilings with exquisite paintings.
The performance was absolutely spellbinding! Such talent! Such passion! The entire cast and crew transformed the stage into an unforgettable dream. It was a visual symphony that danced through my senses. I felt truly blessed to experience this extraordinary cultural event.
Foodie Fun in Rome: The Flavours of Italy
I love Italian food – who doesn't? Pasta, pizza, even a cheeky espresso! I know it's my duty as a pink-loving, ballerina to have a good balance in my life! I even found a special ballet-inspired café – think cute pink ballet shoes scattered amongst pastries, delicious rose-tinted macarons and latte art inspired by dancers and ballerinas. I knew I had to share it with you!
It's a little secret that I keep for all you "pink tutu" people! It's not as "well-known" yet so keep it secret. Shh! Don't tell anyone else about the "Ballet Belle Cafe." I am tempted to share it all but I might keep it under my pink tutus hat!
I must say that my taste buds have been totally delighted this week! The fresh, flavourful ingredients here are divine, I’ve had pasta in a vibrant tomato sauce, perfectly cooked gnocchi with creamy pesto and the most delicious tiramisu! You can tell that the food here comes straight from the heart and is created with passion.
Looking Ahead: More Tutu-tastic Adventures!
I've been planning a ballet performance here in Rome next week. I can't reveal the details yet, but it’s going to be absolutely magical. It wouldn’t be a Rome trip without a visit to the Colosseum! A few of my new friends (fellow pink-tutu lovers!) have planned a "Pink Tutu Roman Tour" next weekend! We're going to explore the Ancient Forum, admire the iconic architecture, and try our hand at throwing pink tutu streamers into the air for the most fabulous photo opportunities! I think you guys should try it - you won’t regret it! It’s going to be “To die for! ” Don’t miss out! Be there or be square!
