Ciao Bella!
It’s Wednesday and that can only mean one thing: it’s time for a new Pink Tutu Rome blog post! I’m back in Rome, and it’s feeling a little chilly compared to the warmth of my beloved Derbyshire. Still, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I simply adore this beautiful city!
You know I love my travels, especially the train journey. There’s something about gliding across the countryside that puts me in a creative mood, and a new adventure feels like a fresh canvas to get lost in. Plus, it's the perfect time to whip out my latest pink tutu - and the little black velvet beret I found on sale in Paris (more about that later!) - for an Instagrammable photo.
The last few days have been a whirlwind of delights: glorious Christmas markets brimming with handmade decorations and yummy smells; finding a fabulous vintage shop hidden down a backstreet where I found the most amazing sequinned top in…you guessed it, pink; and then, the grand finale, an absolutely divine performance by the Accademia Nazionale di Danza at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.
Speaking of tutus, my inner ballerina was doing pirouettes of delight watching these graceful dancers. They took my breath away! Watching those effortless movements reminded me how important it is to always strive for excellence and dedication, whether it's in my ballet performances back home, my blog posts, or even trying to get the perfect photo in front of the Trevi Fountain.
Exploring the Colosseum: An Unexpected Twist
Yesterday, I explored the Colosseum. Seeing the arena where gladiators once battled brought history alive, but I must admit, I felt a bit sad knowing all the bloodshed that had occurred there.
And what do you think a Pink Tutu Girl does in a historical setting like that? Of course, I did the classic tourist thing - posing for a photo with the Colosseum as my backdrop - but then I had an idea.
"If gladiators were alive today, I think they'd wear pink tutus!" I declared to my friends, causing a few chuckles. Maybe it sounds silly, but it just made me imagine them with those bright pink fluffy tutus. You know, a little bit of feminine energy to soften up all that blood and battles. (And, hey, who knows, maybe it's a new trend? Never say never!)
The Magic of the Trevi Fountain
Of course, a visit to Rome isn’t complete without throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain! I know I’m not supposed to, but I found a cute little coin purse shaped like a pink flamingo and used that to throw a coin (just a penny for luck!) into the fountain. Then I took some absolutely lovely photographs (well, we all have to be honest about these things, I do have a thing for a good selfie!).
And now I’m writing this blog from my balcony overlooking the bustling piazza. It’s a magical, twinkling Christmas scene.
Speaking of magical…
A Fashionable Festive Fiesta
Tomorrow is New Year's Eve and I can’t wait to share all the festive festivities with you. I've got a sparkly pink dress that I can't wait to wear and I'm planning to do a little street performance in the Piazza Navona.
And you, my lovely Pink Tutu Tribe, what are your New Year plans? Do tell! Leave a comment below.
Love and sequins,
Emma xxx
