Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1646: Christmas in the Eternal City!

Ciao, darlings!

Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad guide to all things fabulous, and I’m bursting with excitement to share my latest adventures with you from the heart of Rome.

You see, it’s Christmas time, and where else could I possibly be than in the Eternal City, steeped in history and festooned with twinkling lights? Honestly, I think Rome was practically made for pink tutus! The grand avenues, the beautiful architecture, the warmth of the people – it’s a match made in fashion heaven!

It’s Wednesday, December 23rd, 2026, and Rome is simply buzzing with pre-Christmas magic. Imagine strolling down Via del Corso, the air crisp with the scent of pine needles and fresh bread, Christmas lights glittering overhead like a sparkling sky, and the melodic tunes of Christmas carols echoing from every doorway. It’s practically a fairytale come to life!

The highlight of this trip, aside from the endless shopping opportunities (which we’ll delve into later!), was the chance to see "The Nutcracker" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Honestly, it was absolutely spectacular! The costumes were magnificent – I swear, the sugar plum fairies' tutus were practically edible. I could have spent hours simply gawking at them!

And speaking of tutus… I have been trying to make a small dent in Rome's resistance to the pink tutu phenomenon. Trust me, it's a battle. I did, however, find this fabulous, sparkly fuchsia-toned tulle number in a boutique on Via Condotti, the Roman equivalent of Oxford Street. I couldn’t resist it, and I'm already dreaming of a photoshoot with the Colosseum in the background.

Oh, and speaking of Oxford Street… Have you ever seen so much shopping in one place? There's Valentino, Gucci, Prada – you name it, they have it. It’s like a dream for a pink-tutu-wearing fashionista like myself! I spent hours window shopping (and let’s be honest, actual shopping too) until my credit card practically wept.

But you know me, my darlings, I always find the perfect balance. A full day of indulgent shopping, for instance, is balanced with a healthy dose of culture, which is how I ended up at the Trevi Fountain. The air hummed with the chatter of tourists and locals alike, all captivated by the iconic water fountain, a symbol of Rome's captivating energy. The roar of the fountain’s water was so loud you practically had to shout to be heard, but it added to the magic of the whole experience.

Now, no trip to Rome is complete without a plate of delicious pasta, a warm cup of Italian espresso, and a taste of their creamy gelato. Let’s just say I’m adding an extra twenty minutes to my cardio routine when I get back home. You’ve got to do it for the culture, right?

Before I bid you adieu, darling readers, a little peek into my travel tips, since you’ve been asking. I simply couldn’t make this trip without a fabulous little outfit, my trusty pink backpack overflowing with snacks and must-have accessories (lip gloss is essential!), and of course, a pair of trusty pink ballet shoes (never, ever leave home without them, lovelies). I do have to mention my obsession with the Italian railways, which make travel within Rome (and even to other Italian cities) a pure joy. The sleek, fast trains offer beautiful views, so remember to choose a window seat!

So, as the holiday season in Rome wraps up, I bid you all a fond farewell, my lovely readers! Until next week’s post from my latest adventure, remember: It’s not just about pink tutus, it’s about living life in a bright, bold, and beautiful way! Arrivederci, lovelies!

Yours,

Emma (In Her Pink Tutu)
