Ciao bella! ??
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new Pink Tutu Rome blog post, straight from the heart of this magical city! I'm writing to you from my little, pink-themed hotel room, with the iconic Colosseum just a stone's throw away. Honestly, I could pinch myself!
This week has been a whirlwind of history, fashion, and delicious food (oh, the food!), and I'm already longing for my next Italian adventure. But for now, let's dive into all the wonderful things I've experienced in my time here so far.
The journey's the joy
As a seasoned train traveller, there's nothing quite like waking up on a high-speed train, a cappuccino in hand, and the promise of a new adventure in the air. This time, the train journey from Derbyshire was a blur of stunning scenery and charming little villages, ending with the magnificent arrival into Rome Termini. My pink suitcase (of course!) popped out, ready to take on this glorious city.
First impressions are everything...and this one was magical
Stepping off the train, the warm Roman air was like a welcome hug, and the smell of pizza wafted through the air, making my stomach rumble with anticipation. After a quick cab ride, I found myself at my adorable little hotel – the perfect spot for a fashionista and tutu-lover like me. The rooms were adorned with pink accents, and the owner (a delightful Italian gentleman named Marco) welcomed me with a huge smile and a complimentary bottle of prosecco.
A Tutu-ful Day in the Eternal City
Today, my darling tutus and I are exploring the ancient wonders of Rome. The Colosseum was mind-blowing! I imagined the gladiators battling in the arena, and the thrill of the crowd roaring their approval. You can feel the history just radiating from the stones!
Later, we ventured into the Roman Forum, which was truly magical. It felt like stepping into a time capsule. I could almost imagine the hustle and bustle of the Roman people going about their day, chatting over a little bowl of pasta.
After all the exploring, it was time for a bit of indulgence. I treated myself to the most delicious gelato in Trastevere – a neighbourhood filled with colourful streets and bustling little piazzas. I felt like I'd stepped onto a film set, with cobblestone streets and buildings covered in flowers.

We all know Rome for its emperors, gladiators, and iconic landmarks. But today, the 16th December 2026, also marks the 102nd anniversary of the tragic earthquake that shook the Italian city of Messina, sadly claiming over 70,000 lives. It serves as a reminder of how history is woven through every city, with joys and tragedies that leave an indelible mark on the people.
The Pink Tutu and Roman Style
No trip to Italy is complete without indulging in a little fashion therapy. I spent the afternoon in Via Condotti, the most glamorous shopping street in Rome. Every shop window was a spectacle of dazzling designer wear, and it was pure heaven!
Naturally, I found myself drawn to the vibrant pink silk scarf, which I knew would pair perfectly with a whimsical tulle skirt, bringing the Roman street style into my own little tutu-inspired world.
Dance Dreams
And now, the ultimate treat for a tutu-obsessed soul like me – a night at the Opera! I can't wait to see "La Traviata" in all its grandeur, surrounded by the splendour of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The air will be filled with passionate singing, delicate dancing, and the rich tapestry of Italian opera. It will be pure bliss!
Pink Tutu Reflections
The magic of Rome has swept me away! It’s a city bursting with art, culture, history, and incredible food. It's definitely a city for anyone who appreciates the beauty of life and loves a touch of glamour. And it seems, this beautiful city appreciates a dash of pink and tulle too!
