Buongiorno from Rome, my loves! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu ambassador, bringing you all the latest from the Eternal City, straight to your screens via my fabulous website www.pink-tutu.com. This week's adventures, as always, are fuelled by the sheer joy of dancing, travel, and a whole lotta pink.
Rome, Sweet Rome:
I arrived in Rome just this morning, hopping off the train with a spring in my step and a big pink grin on my face. Oh, I do love train travel! Something about the rhythmic clickety-clack and the passing scenery sparks such a wonderful creative energy, which is definitely helping fuel this week's blog! I'm a Derbyshire girl through and through, but Rome just has this special energy, don't you think? I swear the air smells like gelato and romance – and that’s before you even set foot inside a pasticceria.
My Rome Rituals:
I know I’ve only been here a few hours, but already my Rome ritual is set. The day starts with an espresso (double, for this dancer), devoured with a warm croissant while taking in the stunning views of the Roman Forum from the balcony of my little apartment. Then, off I go to explore! I love getting lost in the backstreets, soaking up the atmosphere, and finding those hidden gems only locals know about.
Today’s discovery? The sweetest little pink tutu boutique tucked away down a cobbled alley. Naturally, I walked out with two new tutus - a delicate blush chiffon number for strolling the Colosseum and a vibrant fuchsia for evening at the Opera. They both have those little shimmering embellishments, a touch of glitz, you know? Just perfect for Rome's glamour!
Ballet In The Eternal City:
Speaking of glamour, this weekend is all about the ballet. You see, there's a fabulous international dance festival taking place at the Teatro dell'Opera, with ballerinas from all over the world. I’ve been following this event online for months, and I'm finally here, feeling so incredibly lucky to experience it in person. I’m particularly looking forward to a performance by a ballerina from Kyiv, with a piece set to the most incredible, poignant piano music. Such powerful art and a moving story that brings together ballet, culture, and current events.
Tutu Inspiration in the Streets:
Of course, my trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without a spot of ballet-inspired fashion exploration! This city is brimming with unique designers and ateliers, and I've already earmarked a few boutiques where I plan to find some truly captivating new additions to my tutu collection. Think flowy silhouettes, rich velvet fabrics, and those beautiful Italian silk scarves in the most glorious hues of rose, lavender, and of course, the signature shade of pink. I’m on the hunt for some fabulous new ballet outfits, too. It wouldn't be a pink tutu adventure without some fabulous outfits to pair with my twirls!
Sharing The Pink Tutu Love:
My favourite part of every trip is the connections I make with people. Whether it’s striking up a conversation with a street vendor, sharing a glass of wine with local artists at a tiny enoteca, or simply striking a pose for a photo in my favourite tutu, I always make time for meeting fellow lovers of beauty and joy. Rome is the perfect city to spread the pink tutu message – people here seem to appreciate life’s little luxuries and appreciate a touch of elegance!

Speaking of inspiration, remember that iconic photograph of Audrey Hepburn gracefully twirling in a pink dress under the Trevi Fountain? That's kind of what this whole Rome adventure feels like – like stepping into a dream! And guess what? Today’s my day for twirling in the Trevi Fountain. It's just such a picture perfect spot, I have to share it with you, my readers! (You can look forward to a blog post next week with all the photos!)
I can already feel the creative energy bubbling over in my heart. Rome is not just about history and architecture – it’s about a certain spirit, a way of embracing life, which I want to share with all of you. I'm confident I’ll be going back home to Derbyshire with some incredible new ideas, and some beautiful pieces to add to my collection.
