Ciao bellas! It's Emma here, and it's time for another Wednesday #PinkTutuRome blog post! This is post number 1651, can you believe it? I’m still buzzing after last night's ballet extravaganza!
Now, I know what you're thinking: a tutu in Rome? Sounds like an absolute contradiction, right? Well, let me tell you, there's something truly magical about twirling through the Eternal City, feeling the history beneath your feet while your tutu swishes and twirls like a vision in pink.
This week's adventures have been bursting with colour, passion, and a dash of dolce vita - naturally! We're on the hunt for the ultimate Italian style, and believe me, there's no shortage of inspiration here in Rome! From the cobbled streets of Trastevere, where we got lost in a labyrinth of charming cafes and boutiques, to the grandeur of the Colosseum, which simply took my breath away - this city is a feast for the senses!
Wednesday, a Day for Ballet and Boutique Hunting
After a leisurely breakfast at our charming little Airbnb (a converted 16th-century townhouse, naturally), we made our way to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Today was a day dedicated to all things ballet, and I had a secret mission - finding the perfect tutu to add to my ever-growing collection!
The Opera House was a sight to behold. Marble halls, sweeping staircases, and even a café decorated in shimmering gold! You can practically smell the history! I was buzzing with excitement and anticipation as we walked into the auditorium.
The performance was absolutely breathtaking! It was a powerful, dramatic work that had me mesmerised, with each step, every pirouette, echoing the spirit of ancient Rome. And as the final curtain fell, my heart was full, not just from the music and artistry, but from the sheer joy of witnessing such beauty and grace.
And let’s not forget the real reason we’d come - shopping for tutus! The city's artisan workshops are just calling out for a tutu-wearing explorer. It was an exciting, head-spinning whirlwind as I stumbled upon hidden gems, discovering everything from antique fabric shops crammed with vibrant velvet and shimmering silk to fashion boutiques dripping with haute couture! But it was the small atelier just off the Campo de' Fiori where I found my prize - a magnificent hand-beaded tutu made with exquisite Italian silk, just perfect for dancing under the Roman sky!
Fuelled by Italian Treats, Back to the Heart of the City
Our ballet adventures continued into the evening with a delightful walk through the heart of Rome. I don’t know how the Romans stay slim! All the little trattorias and cafés are just beckoning you in with delicious smells and plates piled high with pasta and fresh seafood. Of course, we had to sample a little (or a lot) of everything - from creamy tiramisu to the most perfectly fluffy focaccia with gooey melted cheese.
Rome at night was a whole new experience, all magical lights and buzzing life! We ended our evening with a glass of prosecco by the Trevi Fountain, listening to street performers serenade us with arias from my favourite operas - Talk about perfect harmony!
Don’t Forget: This is Just the Start!
Rome is brimming with endless possibilities, and there’s so much more to explore. The Pantheon, with its impossibly beautiful dome and historic grandeur. The Vatican, with its stunning art and architectural brilliance. And who knows? Maybe even some hidden, magical ballerina schools tucked away in alleyways, where young Roman dreamers twirl with grace and ambition!
And remember, if you haven’t already, get on your best tutu and take the world by storm! Spread the joy of dance, and show the world that even in the heart of the city, a tutu always belongs.
Don’t forget to check back next Wednesday for my next post about all things Pink Tutu Rome. Ciao!
Pink Tutu Top Tip for this week: Always pack your trusty ballet shoes! You never know when the inspiration to dance might strike! And if you happen to spot a beautiful street performer, don’t be shy - ask if you can join them for a song or a twirl! (just be sure to ask first!).
I hope you enjoyed reading all about my week in Rome!
