Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, back from the Eternal City! I'm writing this post straight from my hotel room, overlooking the Colosseum. Let me tell you, Rome is just as magical as they say - even better, actually! And my oh my, the fashion scene here is to die for.
This trip is a dream come true. I landed in Rome on Monday after an absolutely delightful train journey through the French countryside - there’s nothing quite like gazing out of the window, watching the scenery fly by, and indulging in a delicious baguette and cheese sandwich (with a side of rosé, of course!).
As soon as I arrived in the capital, I was mesmerized by the sheer beauty of the city. Everywhere you look there are stunning ancient ruins, charming cobblestone streets, and breathtaking squares filled with history. Honestly, it feels like stepping into a time machine!
Now, let's talk about my love affair with Rome so far…
Rome's Ballet Scene: A Dream for Any Ballerina
Rome's ballet scene is utterly vibrant! Last night I saw a breathtaking performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma - a new production of Giselle. I was absolutely captivated! The dancers were incredible, the costumes exquisite, and the choreography was a true work of art. It's one thing to admire these ballerinas from afar, but seeing them up close and personal was truly awe-inspiring!
Shopping Adventures: My Tutu Travels
Speaking of fashion, Rome has got it in spades! From the luxury boutiques of Via Condotti to the quirky independent shops in Trastevere, there’s a store for every taste and style. I’ve already snagged a gorgeous, silky pink scarf adorned with beautiful Italian embroidery - it's just divine! The vibrant colours and intricate designs here are truly inspiring, and I'm planning to explore a few more independent boutiques later today.
Pink Tutu Inspiration:
As always, I'm on the lookout for inspiration for my tutu wardrobe. My aim is to encourage every single person on this planet to embrace their inner tutu! In Rome, I've found plenty of ideas to add to my collection. I'm envisioning a fabulous fuchsia tulle skirt for an evening outing, and perhaps a stunning ombre pink tutu with feathers and sparkles for the upcoming performance I’m prepping for back home.
Rome's Delicious Delights
Forget boring pasta and pizza - the culinary scene in Rome is much more than that! It’s an explosion of fresh flavours and artistic creations. Last night, I stumbled upon a tiny trattoria tucked away in a quiet alley. They served me a traditional dish of carbonara that melted in my mouth - it was perfection! Oh, and the tiramisu? Let's just say it was a dream come true!
Pink Tutu Rome: The Cultural Delights
Apart from the dazzling ballet performances and incredible food, Rome has so much more to offer. I've spent hours wandering through the Colosseum, imagining the gladiators fighting in its arena, and marveled at the awe-inspiring Pantheon. Later this week, I’m visiting the Vatican City - I’m absolutely dying to see St Peter’s Basilica!
This Week’s Performance Back Home
While I’m enjoying the beauty and vibrant atmosphere of Rome, I’m also prepping for a ballet performance back home in Derbyshire next weekend. I’m performing with my ballet school in a fundraising gala for the local theatre - we’ll be doing a mashup of contemporary pieces, and my role has a pretty epic tutu! You bet I've been practicing my fouettés and arabesques! I’ve got my lucky tutu ready and I'm going to absolutely rock this performance.
A Little Bit of History
As you may know, Rome has a rich and fascinating history. I’m absolutely hooked on exploring the ruins of ancient Rome! I just spent the morning at the Roman Forum and felt completely transported back in time. Imagine a bustling city teeming with life thousands of years ago – truly incredible. I can't wait to explore more of these captivating sites throughout the week!
