Hello darlings! It's Emma, your pink tutu-loving travel companion, reporting live from the Eternal City – Rome! I'm absolutely smitten with this place. It's like stepping straight into a history book, only with more delicious gelato and stunning fashion. I just can't get over the cobbled streets, the ancient architecture, and the air that seems to hum with romance.
As a reminder, this week's #PinkTutuRome blog post is a special treat! Because today, 5th May 2027, I'm enjoying an utterly fabulous ballet performance, followed by some much-needed shopping therapy in the heart of Rome. But, before I divulge all the glittery details, let me tell you about my journey.
From Derbyshire to the heart of Rome:
The journey itself was an adventure! I've always loved train travel. The clatter of wheels, the endless view rolling by the window, and the chance to people watch make for the perfect escape. Plus, I can't resist a good train outfit – my pink tutu, a chic cream top with frills, and my signature statement necklace. You know the one: a delicate pink chain with a little ballerina charm, just a touch of whimsical magic to brighten my day.
I made a stop in Florence, of course, where I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures in front of the iconic Ponte Vecchio bridge – wearing, naturally, my most dazzling pink tutu.
A Ballet Performance with a Twist!
Speaking of dancing, tonight is a night I've been eagerly awaiting. It's the annual "Danza di Primavera" (Dance of Spring) performance held in the ancient Roman theatre, Teatro Marcello. This year's theme is "Romance Under the Stars," and the performances are an enchanting blend of traditional ballet with modern dance elements, set against a backdrop of twinkly stars projected on the theatre's vaulted ceiling. It's simply breathtaking. I can't wait to see the choreography. I'm hoping for some intricate twirls, some dramatic leaps, and, of course, a touch of cheeky flamenco – after all, I've been practicing my steps. ?
I'll tell you all about the show tomorrow, of course! But trust me, it's a treat for the soul, even for a seasoned ballerina like myself.
A Shopping Spree with Italian Flair!
Rome, of course, is a haven for fashion lovers. And I just had to make the most of my visit with a good shopping spree. I already spotted some amazing pink pieces in the boutiques around Piazza Navona – a vibrant mix of flowing floral skirts, delicately embellished tops, and, yes, even a few delightful pink tutus – because a girl can never have too many, right? The Italian artisans have a knack for detail, a certain flair, that adds a touch of magic to every piece of clothing. It's enough to make even the most sensible of souls want to twirl. ?
I'll also be searching for the perfect souvenir for you all – something truly Italian and wonderfully pink, to be revealed later in the week. I think I might know the perfect spot: a charming little shop tucked away in a secret courtyard in Trastevere. But for now, the mystery remains!
#PinkTutuRome: A Weekend of Adventures:
Of course, I haven't even mentioned the rest of the adventures! Tomorrow, I'll take you on a journey to the Colosseum, with its whisper of ancient Roman battles and gladiatorial games, all while showcasing my best pink tutu, naturally! We'll also be exploring the iconic Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, soaking up history and basking in the warm Italian sun.
Then on Sunday, it's all about gelato, espresso, and a leisurely stroll through Borghese Gallery – with a stop for some stunning Renaissance art, naturally! We'll be walking past a breathtaking fountain and finding hidden treasures amidst cobblestone streets and blossoming gardens.
My week in Rome is filled with a delicious mix of history, art, dancing, and shopping - with, of course, a healthy dose of pink tutu goodness.
