Hello my gorgeous ballet-loving bunnies! ? Welcome to Pink Tutu Rome, my weekly wanderings around the Eternal City. This is post number 1666, and I'm buzzing to share all the pink and pirouettes I've encountered this week!
First of all, a massive thank you for all your support on the Pink Tutu website, www.pink-tutu.com! It's thanks to your love of all things pink and twirly that I can afford to jet off on these magical adventures, fuelled by the sheer joy of sharing my ballet passion with you.
So, this week, Rome was calling, and you know I couldn't resist! I packed my suitcase full of pink, twirling tutus (you can't be too prepared!) and hopped on the Eurostar for a whirlwind Italian adventure. And trust me, I had a truly "tutu-ific" time!
First Stop: Ballet on the Piazza
It was Wednesday afternoon, the sun was shining, and I was practically levitating as I made my way to the Piazza Navona. But why was this petite ballerina so happy? Because it was Rome Ballet Week! A whole week dedicated to all things dance, showcasing some of the most talented ballet companies in the world!
And wouldn't you know it, they were having a special outdoor performance right in the piazza! My eyes practically popped out of my head when I saw the stage all set up. I practically danced a little jig myself – who needs the Colosseum when you have ballerinas leaping through the air? The performance was absolutely divine, showcasing the breathtaking artistry and strength of ballet. Even my camera wasn't able to capture the magic, the way the light played on the costumes, the exquisite movements, it was all just utterly sublime!
Afterwards, I bumped into some of the performers, who were absolutely thrilled to be in Rome. We had a lovely chat and even got a snap together. These talented souls, dressed in vibrant tutus (naturally, mine was the brightest pink!), told me about their journey to become dancers, sharing the same passion that courses through my veins. They even encouraged me to take a ballet class in Rome!
Fashion Fix: A Pink Extravaganza
Now, I know what you're thinking. "Emma, Rome, fashion? Oh, my!" And you wouldn't be wrong. My darlings, this city is a fashionista's paradise!
The streets are alive with color and style. I could wander for hours admiring the boutiques bursting with exquisite pieces. From high-end designer stores to quirky independent boutiques, there's something to suit every taste and budget. And you can bet your bottom tutu that I explored them all!
I picked up a gorgeous new pair of ballet flats (pink, naturally!), a luxurious silk scarf for my hair (I like to keep it a bit messy when I twirl) and a stunning hat that I simply couldn't resist! But my true treasure, my loves, was this absolutely dreamy pink cashmere sweater. It’s soft, luxurious, and perfect for those cooler Roman evenings.
Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the designer outlets! You know, those treasure troves of fashion magic! I managed to snaffle some stunning designer pieces, all at a fraction of the price, leaving me practically vibrating with glee! But my ultimate find, the one I'll be cherishing for years to come, was a delicate lace ballet tutu. A touch of whimsy and elegance, and the most beautiful shade of blush pink - it’s a truly perfect way to end my day of shopping adventures!
Dinner with a View: Food, Fun & Fabulousness!
Speaking of beautiful views, no trip to Rome would be complete without an al fresco dining experience with a breathtaking view. My favourite spot, where the panoramic views rival the food itself? It has to be “Terrazzo,” the rooftop terrace of the Hotel de Russie! I indulged in delicious, fresh Italian cuisine – a perfectly pink prawn pasta dish that would make any ballerina's mouth water! It was so utterly charming, all fresh flowers, beautiful lights, and romantic ambiance. I felt like I’d stepped straight into a ballet production!
As I watched the sun set over the ancient city, I couldn’t help but reflect on the beauty that surrounded me. It’s moments like this, where fashion, food, and a little bit of magic combine, that make my heart sing. And the city just keeps on giving! I went for a late-night walk around the ancient Roman forum, feeling incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so much history and beauty.
Sunday Splendor: A Ballet Feast
Oh, my loves, how exciting was it that the Rome Opera House was showcasing a performance of “Swan Lake” on Sunday night? I was literally buzzing! Now, you know how much I adore ballet, and "Swan Lake" is my absolute all-time favourite. I just couldn't miss this one!
The grandeur of the Opera House took my breath away. From the exquisite architecture to the elegant interior, the ambiance was breathtakingly opulent! And then there was the ballet performance itself. My jaw literally dropped! I felt myself swept away by the music, the costumes, and the astonishing skill of the dancers. I even managed to nab a sneak peek backstage after the show, where I got to witness the dedication and artistry firsthand. I couldn't stop giggling. This is where I feel at home, this is where my soul really belongs.
I left the opera house on a complete high, feeling inspired and deeply moved by the experience. But it wasn't just about the ballet; the excitement in the air, the buzzing crowds, the energy was so electric, the energy was contagious.
My Final Twirl: A Pink Promise
My dears, my adventures in Rome have come to an end, but I promise you, this won't be my last Roman escapade. The city’s beauty and vibrancy continue to call to me, just like a siren song. I can't wait to explore more of this historical treasure trove and share more Pink Tutu adventures with you.
In the meantime, my darling dancers, remember this: life is too short to wear anything other than pink. And don’t be afraid to wear your tutu with pride! You deserve to twirl with confidence and joy. You’ve got this!
Until next Wednesday, my loves! And remember, keep spreading the Pink Tutu love. ??
Lots of pink and twirls,
Emma xxx
