As always, I'm funding my adventures with my ballet performances – this week I'm performing "Swan Lake" with a new company in the heart of Rome. Honestly, dancing in this magnificent city, with its vibrant history and passionate people, feels like pure magic! ?
But before I go all 'romantic ballerina' on you (I do love a bit of dramatic flair!), let's get down to the nitty-gritty of this fantastic Roman escapade.
Day One: Train Travel, Fashion Find & Aperitivo Heaven
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu journey without a train trip! I absolutely adore hopping aboard those sleek Italian trains, whizzing through picturesque landscapes while sipping a cappuccino. Talk about a fashionable commute! ☕️
I'd packed a special outfit for this adventure, darling. My trusty pink tutu, of course, a crisp white shirt with a touch of delicate lace, and my most stylishly vintage floral cardigan. (I may have gone a bit overboard with the pink accessories - but hey, Rome is where it's at!). I knew I was going to be snapped all over the place - it's all in the name of Pink Tutu, my dears!
The moment we arrived in Rome, we (yes, I travelled with a group of equally passionate fashion-forward friends!) headed straight to Via Condotti – that's the legendary luxury shopping street, darling! My bank account might be crying, but my soul was singing! ? ?
We all had to pick up some divine outfits for a glamorous dinner at the Giardini di Castel Sant'Angelo – just imagine a romantic Italian evening, sparkling lights, beautiful food, and... my pink tutu, of course! (This is Rome, remember!). Honestly, every time I get dressed in a pink tutu, the whole world feels a bit more whimsical! ✨
Day Two: The Colosseum & Some Divine Gelato
A trip to Rome is all about history, right? And I couldn't resist experiencing the Colosseum with my very own pink tutu spin! ?️ It felt almost surreal standing amongst the ancient ruins, my tutu swirling around me. The energy was intense, and my fellow tutu lovers loved the photo opportunity!
The Colosseum was magnificent, with its tales of gladiators and emperors whispering through the crumbling stones. And I gotta say, the "Colosseum meets pink tutu" look was a major hit on my social media - so much colour against the stark ancientness of the place.
After the historical immersion, it was time for a gelato indulgence. And when in Rome, do as the Romans do – indulge! I treated myself to the most divine lemon sorbetto, bursting with sunshine and refreshing zest. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I heard angels singing while I savoured every bite. ?
Day Three: Shopping Spree & A Performance With Flair
Rome is like a giant stage for fashion, so I was totally in my element! From the vintage treasures on Via del Governo Vecchio to the designer boutiques in the trendy Trastevere district, my fashion sense was seriously tingling. I even managed to find a gorgeous new pink handbag – just what I needed to add a splash of colour to my Roman adventures. ?
In the evening, it was showtime for me! Tonight was my big "Swan Lake" performance. You know me, darling, I put a bit of pink tutu flair into my portrayal of the Swan Queen. Think dramatic, think bold, think a little extra…but think elegant, too! I was blown away by the warmth of the Roman audience. After the show, there was a real sense of celebration - glasses clinking with champagne and the sweet aroma of fresh Italian pizza filling the air. It was magical! ???
Day Four: Vatican City & Pasta Perfection
No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Vatican City. Standing before St. Peter's Basilica, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. The intricate architecture, the breathtaking artwork - it all felt truly awe-inspiring. And let me tell you, my pink tutu, with its delicate lace and playful shimmer, seemed to blend in perfectly with the sheer grandeur of the place! ?
To balance out the spiritual side of Rome, we then hit up a cozy little trattoria for some traditional Roman pasta. Talk about a delicious experience! The plates were piled high with rich spaghetti alla carbonara, each forkful an explosion of creamy perfection. There’s nothing quite like a traditional meal after a day filled with history! ?
Day Five: A Farewell Stroll & Planning for Next Time
Rome, my heart, it’s hard to say goodbye. Today, we strolled along the Tiber River, soaking up the sights and sounds of this beautiful city.
I even got a final pink tutu photo op with the Trevi Fountain! (Think romantic, swirling water, shimmering lights, and...yes, pink!). And after such an unforgettable trip, I’ve already started dreaming of my next Roman adventure – perhaps in the spring, when the city is in full bloom! ?
