Oh my darling readers, I am thrilled to be writing this post from the heart of Rome! As you know, I'm a firm believer that there's no better way to explore the world than by train. It's the romantic way to travel, giving you time to watch the scenery fly by, pen your thoughts in your travel journal, and indulge in a spot of tea (with pink sugar, naturally!).
This trip has been a long time coming. Ever since my ballet performance at the Royal Opera House last month, I've dreamt of heading to the Eternal City. You see, my love of ballet doesn't stop at the stage; it extends to everything. From the elegance of the architecture to the grace of the local artists, I knew Rome would be a true feast for the senses.
And you know what? I haven't been disappointed! From the moment I arrived at Termini Station, its magnificent vaulted ceilings and stunning mosaics greeted me like a ballet in motion. My eyes, forever drawn to the beautiful, instantly saw the grandeur, the art, the history… Rome is like stepping back into a Renaissance masterpiece!
Today, I woke up with the most excited butterflies fluttering in my tummy. You see, darling, today was the day I planned to visit the Vatican. And trust me, seeing it in person is an experience that leaves you speechless. Every detail, every piece of art, speaks volumes of history and artistry.
But you know me, I always make time for some retail therapy. The moment I set foot inside the shops on Via Condotti, I was mesmerized. Think chic boutiques showcasing luxurious Italian designs, everything crafted with passion and precision. And then, my eyes fell upon a little shop called "Il Tutù Rosa" – I nearly swooned! It was a treasure trove of tulle and lace, pink satin and elegant ballet shoes – heaven on earth! Needless to say, I walked out with enough silk ribbons and ballet-inspired accessories to outfit a whole dance troupe. You know I'll be sharing all my finds in my upcoming Pink Tutu Fashion Friday post!
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a taste of the local delicacies. Today's highlight was the perfect gelato I found nestled in a hidden alley. With its rich flavours and creamy texture, it was truly a dessert fit for a princess… or a ballerina, if you prefer! I particularly enjoyed the flavour "Fiore di Loto," an exquisite blend of rose and lotus. It perfectly encapsulated the romantic air of Rome, just like the way the sun dipped behind the ancient Roman ruins, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold.
So, how's my "wear-a-pink-tutu-everyday" mission going, you ask? Well, as luck would have it, Rome's bustling streets have become the perfect canvas for my vision! From the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain, every picturesque spot is a stage where I can twirl and spin my way through life. You'll find me documenting all my pink-tutu escapades on my Instagram (@EmmaPinkTutu), of course!
And for a little more cultural insight into this breathtaking city, I've been delving into the world of Roman Ballet. It seems like the whole city is enthralled by this art form, and I can't wait to catch a show at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. You know how much I love to experience the thrill of live performances, and the buzz of excitement is truly electric!
Now, as the sun sets over the ancient city, I find myself filled with gratitude for this incredible journey. Rome is everything I imagined and more! And tomorrow, who knows what new adventures await? I'm planning on spending the day in Trastevere, exploring its charming cobbled streets and soaking up the local atmosphere.
Don't forget, darling, you can catch up on all my Roman adventures on my website, www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday! So keep an eye out for more fun stories, fashion updates, and maybe even a few graceful ballet moves from the streets of Rome! Ciao bella! ?
