Buongiorno, my darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, and this week, I'm bursting with excitement as I'm finally writing from the heart of Rome! It's a dream come true, my loves. From Derbyshire's rolling green hills to the ancient streets of the Eternal City, I've arrived in my pink tutu and I'm ready to soak up every bit of Italian magic!
This is the culmination of months of planning and fundraising – a series of ballets performances at our local theatre and a good dose of good old fashioned British thrift, has gotten me here. And boy, oh boy, is Rome beautiful. Every cobbled street, every grand palazzo, every street vendor selling fresh, delicious pasta, just makes me want to sing!

The Pink Tutu Arrives in Rome!
After a whirlwind train journey (did you know you can get a sleeper train straight to Rome from London?! Magic!) I arrived at Termini station, feeling like I was walking into a movie set! It felt like stepping back in time – all those ancient buildings, buzzing with life. I swear, I could almost hear chariot wheels clattering on the cobbles!
First impressions? Let's just say I'm absolutely smitten with Rome! It's chaotic and elegant all at the same time. The first thing that struck me was the sheer number of scooters. They zoom about like a ballet of tiny, metallic birds, dodging tourists and traffic alike. Then there are the people, oh the people! I love how friendly everyone is here. They love chatting and smiling and it makes me feel so welcomed.
And speaking of welcoming, it was such a joy to discover how many shops in Rome cater to ballerinas! This week's adventures included the cutest shop selling custom tutu designs, the perfect addition to my already substantial collection (although let's face it, you can never have too many tutus). I also stumbled upon a brilliant little artisan store selling beautiful handmade ballet shoes in every imaginable colour - and I'm talking pink galore, of course! I have a feeling my pink tutu-clad travels around Rome are going to involve lots of ballerina shopping and lots of fabulous pink-themed outfit ideas!
Today's Roman Inspiration: Ballet and the Arts
As a ballerina and a huge theatre enthusiast, it's hard to be in Rome without wanting to see the local scene. Today, I treated myself to a performance of La Scala's famous ballet troupe. It was absolute perfection. From the breathtaking choreography to the incredible costuming, it was truly captivating. I sat in awe, imagining myself twirling on the stage. My inspiration levels are soaring!
Speaking of ballet and art, I've been loving exploring Rome's various ballet schools and dance studios. There's just something special about seeing dancers from all over the world train together in such an ancient, yet vibrant city. I even signed up for a couple of classes myself! It's wonderful to be reminded how much joy and power dance brings to people. And let's not forget about the incredible art museums here, a feast for the senses.
Tomorrow's Adventures: A Pink Tutu Day Out
But let's not just talk about ballet. I've got so much planned for this week, all of it naturally featuring my pink tutus. It's going to be a pink tutu filled, Roman holiday!
On the agenda for tomorrow: I'm planning to head over to the Colosseum! Can you imagine how amazing it will be to pose with my tutu in front of this architectural marvel? It's a truly must-have photo for any ballerina traveller. I’ve also planned a visit to the Pantheon - another ancient masterpiece with a history dating back thousands of years. Imagine taking a selfie inside this remarkable dome!
Fashioning my Pink Tutu Rome Adventures
No Roman adventure is complete without a trip to the local shops! Rome is an absolute heaven for fashion lovers and there’s something for everyone - vintage chic, modern street style and the ultimate haute couture. I've been scouring the shops for the perfect pink ensemble to wear to the opera. A stunning, statement pink dress, maybe with a touch of black, with a tutu skirt on top - you've got to love the layered looks. And the accessories! I just know Rome will inspire some incredible new outfit ideas and fashion combinations!
