Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! Post #1703 – 26th January 2028

Ciao from Rome, darlings! It’s Emma, your resident pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, and this week’s adventures take us to the Eternal City. I must admit, Rome has stolen my heart…and it certainly wasn't just because of the gorgeous pasta!

The journey down from Derbyshire by train was a dream, of course. Nothing beats a good train ride in my opinion. I managed to squeeze in a little ballet practice on the way - stretching my legs between rows of seats is definitely an acquired skill! And, to celebrate reaching Italy, I donned a fabulous new pink tutu, which naturally caught the attention of everyone on the train. There's something about the twirl that brings smiles to everyone’s faces - just wait till you see the photos!

Now, where do I even begin with Rome? It's all a whirlwind of beauty, history, and deliciousness. Today was about getting acquainted with this magnificent city - strolling through cobbled streets, dodging electric scooters (not as graceful as my twirling!), and soaking up the atmosphere. We even managed to squeeze in a quick photoshoot for you lovely lot - watch this space for those gorgeous shots coming to the blog very soon!

First on our agenda: exploring the Piazza Navona. This incredible square, adorned with ancient Egyptian obelisks, fountains and Baroque masterpieces, just wowed me. We spent hours marvelling at Bernini's Fountain of Four Rivers - it's absolutely breathtaking. It felt like I'd stepped into a history book come to life! The atmosphere was just buzzing with artists and street performers, the aroma of fresh coffee wafting through the air.

After all that exploring, I definitely needed a good, strong latte - so I took myself to the adorable Cafe del Gelato just off Piazza Navona, nestled in a quaint side street. They had the most amazing almond latte and delicious panini – I swear I was in food heaven! And of course, no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in gelato – trust me, the scoops were the size of my head, so the real struggle was deciding which flavours to have! I, of course, opted for strawberry and pistachio – pink, it’s practically compulsory, isn’t it?!

One of the things I adore about Rome is the history that literally spills out on every street corner. We popped into the Pantheon, marveling at the giant dome that lets the light flood in. You could almost hear the whispers of the emperors and philosophers who once walked these very halls.

And of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without visiting the Trevi Fountain. This truly is one of the most spectacular sights I’ve ever seen - the incredible detail, the stories etched in the marble, it's truly mesmerising! Legend says that if you toss a coin into the fountain, you'll be guaranteed to return to Rome – so, naturally, I did. Several times, in fact! Who can resist the chance of a little magic and another scoop of gelato, am I right?

As the evening settled in, we took a stroll along the Tiber, admiring the lit-up Ponte Sant’Angelo and catching glimpses of the Castel Sant'Angelo in the distance. The night was alive with music, laughter, and the scent of delicious street food.

My first full day in Rome has been absolutely incredible, a whirlwind of beautiful sights, flavours, and inspiration. This city has captured my heart in just a short time, with its stunning architecture, vibrant atmosphere, and rich history. But I haven't even mentioned the shopping yet… oh my goodness! The streets here are bursting with fabulous designer boutiques and incredible little vintage shops. I am definitely planning on taking a day dedicated to discovering some stylish treasures – I think my new pink tutu will need a few friends!

This is only the beginning of our Roman adventure, and I'm brimming with excitement for what's to come. So stay tuned next week for more of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures!

And, remember my darling readers, wear pink, wear tutus and wear them with pride. You can look and feel incredible, and don't be afraid to be bold, darling. You only live once, right?!

And now, I'm off to bed to dream of delicious pizza and Roman piazzas, maybe even a dream performance in the Colosseum (though maybe I'll stick to real ballet stages!). See you next week!

Lots of Love, Emma xxx
