Ciao, darlings! It’s Emma here, your Pink Tutu blogger, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be writing to you from the magical city of Rome! It’s been a whirlwind of history, gelato, and glorious fashion – all wrapped up in a giant pink ribbon (because you know I had to find one, right?)
This week marks my first time in the Italian capital, and honestly, I’ve fallen head over heels (wearing a ballet shoe, naturally) in love with its charm and elegance. Everything feels so sophisticated, from the cobblestone streets to the incredible architecture. It’s like stepping into a history book, but with better coffee!
But let’s get back to the point, shall we? This week’s Pink Tutu adventure is all about Rome – the city of love, laughter, and, of course, fabulous fashion.
A Ballet Dream Come True
Rome might be famous for its ancient wonders, but I was absolutely starstruck by the ballet scene here! I’ve already attended two performances – one at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, which was breathtaking. It's been a long time since I've seen something so exquisitely done – the costumes, the set design, and the dancers themselves were simply spectacular. Honestly, it was like watching a dream unfold in front of me.
And then there was a delightful evening spent at the Teatro Argentina – such a quaint and intimate setting for a performance of Swan Lake. The sheer talent on that stage left me in awe – I even took some tips on my pirouettes!
Exploring Rome’s Hidden Gems
Now, let's talk about some seriously gorgeous places I've discovered in this captivating city. It's hard to pick favourites when everything is so stunning, but a few have really captured my imagination.
I found the perfect picture spot for your Instagram feeds – Piazza Navona. It’s bustling with life, street performers, and laughter – a delightful melting pot of energy. The fountains are so intricate, it feels like a scene from a movie, especially the Fountain of the Four Rivers!
But then again, the Pantheon left me completely speechless. I honestly couldn't even speak for a good five minutes when I saw it! Such grandeur, so incredibly detailed, it’s hard to believe something so awe-inspiring exists. I felt a sense of calm as I walked through it – it felt incredibly spiritual and I just had to twirl in my pink tutu!
Speaking of the tutu life… Rome really did not disappoint when it came to shopping for fashion inspiration!
Fashion Frenzy in the City of Seven Hills
Let’s just say I’ve gone slightly overboard with some incredible buys. Rome really understands la dolce vita when it comes to style.
I snagged the most stunning tulle skirt with delicate lace trim – perfect for a romantic walk through the Roman Forum, right? (Did I mention my shoes are perfectly matched? ?). And let’s not forget the pink floral scarf I found – because, well, when else am I going to rock a head-turning piece like this?!
Rome is an absolute haven for vintage fashion – and I managed to score some incredible finds! The silk gloves are an absolute dream for evening wear, and you know I’m already planning a ballet-inspired outfit around the sequined cape I found.
Train Tracks to Tremendous Experiences
One of my favourite things about Rome? The easy and efficient train network! This trip really proves that travelling by train is a great way to get into the vibe of a city.
You see all the sights, experience the local life – even chat with interesting people from all walks of life. I even took a lovely train ride out to Tivoli to see Hadrian’s Villa – such beautiful ruins! It’s always a good idea to have a snack prepared, just in case – trust me!
From Derbyshire to Dolce Vita
Leaving a little bit of Derbyshire in the heart of Rome feels absolutely incredible. To be here, exploring, dancing, and wearing my pink tutu… well, it’s a dream come true!
I’ve definitely left my heart (and some of my cash!) in the city, but I'm already counting down the days until my next visit. Because, honestly, who could resist this magical, romantic, fashionable haven?
Until next Wednesday, darling! Stay fabulous and wear your tutu with pride. ?
Love,
Emma
