Pink Tutu Rome: A Whirlwind of Culture, Cappuccinos, and (Naturally) Tutùs! ???

#PinkTutuRome #1711

Ciao bella! ? Emma here, reporting live from the heart of Rome, Italy! As the glorious rays of the Roman sun filter through the charming cafe window onto my pink tutu (it really is the perfect colour for this beautiful city!), I'm brimming with excitement to share all the fabulously fashionable fun I've had exploring this ancient metropolis.

It's Wednesday, my weekly rendezvous with you lovely lot on www.pink-tutu.com, and today's post is going to be a real whirlwind of colour, culture, and, of course, my ever-present tutu! ?

You might be wondering how a tutu-loving Derbyshire girl ends up jet-setting through Europe, well, the magic of ballet makes it possible. My dance performances, coupled with a little bit of clever budgeting, have allowed me to travel the world, and Rome, oh Rome, has stolen a piece of my heart. ?

This week, I decided to embrace the Roman vibe and swap my usual London Ballet class for something a little different - a Flamenco workshop. It was truly magical! Learning these graceful yet powerful movements with a group of like-minded souls in a vibrant studio was such a joy. It's definitely inspired me to explore different forms of dance, and let me tell you, it would be so fabulous to see a ballet performance set against the backdrop of the Colosseum. Imagine the twirls, the leaps, the drama! ?

After all that dancing, a traditional Roman breakfast was just what the doctor ordered! Fresh bread, flaky croissants, the creamiest cappuccinos... it was heavenly! The smell of the freshly brewed coffee permeated the cafe, just like a burst of sunshine into the Roman morning. The best part? Of course, I couldn't resist wearing my trusty pink tutu for breakfast! ? It truly made a splash. I spotted a few eyebrows raised, a couple of curious smiles, and even a couple of “Oh-la-la’s.” It just goes to show that a pink tutu is a surefire way to spark a conversation in any city, Rome included!

Speaking of sparking conversation, my Rome exploration started at the Fontana di Trevi, and let me tell you, it was absolutely breathtaking! The sun setting behind the majestic facade, the cascading water reflecting the warm tones of the Roman sky… I could have spent hours gazing at this magical creation. I couldn’t help but add my coin to the water for good luck. Who knows, maybe I’ll find a romantic Roman who's willing to wear a tutu with me! ?

You know how much I love a good market, and Campo de’ Fiori did not disappoint! The energy, the scents, the sights – I could have happily wandered around for hours, sampling all the delicious local produce, bargaining with charming vendors, and of course, looking out for fabulous fashion finds to add to my wardrobe. Did I mention my quest to get everyone to wear pink tutus? I might have managed to tempt a couple of unsuspecting tourists with my vibrant, oh-so-tutuful charms. ?

Now, a good Italian dinner is something you just can’t skip! ?? We headed to a small family-run restaurant where the warmth and laughter of the locals mingled with the delicious aroma of fresh pasta and the rich smell of oregano. Oh, the pasta! Each mouthful was a flavour explosion! We shared a big plate of steaming Spaghetti alla Carbonara, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dishes I've had in all my travels! My advice? Go for a place that's packed with locals – that's how you know the food is going to be delicious!

Talking of food, one of the best experiences was visiting a Gelateria! The ice cream, oh, the ice cream! The flavours, the textures, the pure heavenly bliss… let's just say, I had more than one scoop. My personal favourite was a unique flavour: lemon ricotta with fresh raspberries – a beautiful balance of tangy and sweet! ? And naturally, my pink tutu went for a little ice-cream dance around the piazza afterwards. The Roman nights are filled with magical music from buskers, the laughter of happy diners, and the feeling of a truly vibrant city that is always on the move.

Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without seeing the Colosseum, so I spent the following day marveling at the immensity of this architectural wonder. Imagine all the incredible shows that took place there! I almost expected to see gladiators clashing swords in the arena, or to hear the roars of the crowd cheering for their favorite chariot racer. It's an incredible reminder of the past, of a world long gone. And yes, my pink tutu made an appearance here too! I imagined the Roman emperors looking out from their seats at my tutu, and let's just say they would have been a little impressed!

Rome is truly a city that offers something for everyone – historical landmarks, artistic treasures, bustling markets, exquisite food, and a charming blend of tradition and modernity. I'm truly mesmerised by its vibrant spirit and undeniable charm.

This weekend I am attending the Rome Opera Festival, where the La Scala Ballet are performing The Nutcracker. A fantastic performance! The music, the choreography, the costumes – all exquisite! There is something truly magical about being part of such a beautiful and emotional experience. As the final curtain fell, I couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would be to grace the stage with these talented dancers – a pink tutu amongst a whirlwind of fabulous dancers! I could feel the inspiration seeping into my soul as I made my way through the bustling streets.

What a whirlwind of emotions and experiences! It’s no surprise that this city has captivated my imagination and filled me with a renewed love for dance and travel. I have no doubt I will return to this enchanting place, and my pink tutu, as ever, will be by my side ready to make another fabulous splash.

Until next time, keep those tutus twirling, my darlings!

Yours always,

Emma ?
