Sunshine streaming through the window, birds singing their morning melodies, and a cup of steaming cappuccino in hand...yes, my darlings, your girl Emma is back in Rome and feeling fabulous! After all, what could be better than waking up in the Eternal City, feeling the vibrant energy pulsate through the ancient streets, and knowing the day ahead is full of adventure, a little bit of shopping, and of course, a splash of pink?
It's been a week since I last shared my Roman escapades, and oh my, so much has happened! You guys, I’ve been in total bliss. Rome is truly a city that steals your heart, a symphony of beauty and history, woven into a tapestry of laughter, gelato, and fabulous fashion!
My Roman Itinerary:
Remember last week I promised you an update on my shoe hunt? Well, my darlings, I've found them. I can't give away too much, I've got to keep you in suspense. You'll see what I’ve got planned in the next few posts. But let me tell you, they are the most gorgeous pair of heels that you have EVER seen. They'll add a dash of pizzazz to any outfit, and let me tell you, when I sashay around the Trevi Fountain with those bad boys, well, I’m going to look absolutely sensational.
As a ballerina at heart, of course, I’ve made a pilgrimage to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma - the glorious opera house! Just stepping inside is an absolute spectacle of art and architectural magnificence. I could feel the magic of countless operas and ballets reverberating in the air! And the sound - it was like a celestial choir of music, sweeping through every corner of the magnificent theatre! It gave me a tingly feeling all over. The stage, bathed in the golden glow of the lights, called to the ballerina in me and whispered promises of a hundred twirling pirouettes, leaps and leaps, and graceful, sweeping arabesques. I imagine it wouldn’t have been all that different if I had been standing in my dressing room at the Royal Opera House, ready for my own curtain call! I could hardly believe it. This theatre was like a living, breathing embodiment of a bygone era, a testament to the power of music and dance.
Speaking of power, this whole trip is actually being funded by my performances! Can you believe it? My love of ballet, that very same passion that brought me to this beautiful city, is now paying for all the delicious pasta, glorious gelato and that fabulous new dress I snagged the other day! It really does go to show you what happens when you follow your dreams, it’s not always easy, and you’ve got to make sacrifices but wow, the rewards are simply incredible.
Now, you know me, my darlings! When I’m travelling I love to immerse myself in local culture, take in the vibes, meet the people and soak in every bit of that glorious, intoxicating atmosphere! One of the best ways I’ve found to do that is to take a stroll through the local markets. They’re such a treasure trove of hidden gems - the colours, the smells, the friendly chatter, and let's be honest, who can resist the delicious aromas of freshly baked bread? This past weekend, I found a beautiful market in the Campo de’ Fiori, just outside the Pantheon. It’s like stepping into a whole other world, full of vibrant stalls bursting with colour and brimming with a delightful selection of fresh fruit, flowers, hand-crafted jewellery, and a truly eclectic collection of local goodies. I could happily spend hours wandering, browsing, and savouring the buzz and bustle of it all, which is what I did for at least 3!
Dress to Impress:
As you already know, one of my absolute favourite things in the world is fashion. And my dear, Rome has an absolutely unbelievable selection. Every street feels like a runway, every shop window a spectacle of chic style, and oh, the dresses...let’s just say that I’ve been finding some amazing new additions to my wardrobe. Don't worry I’ll post an update of what I picked up on next Wednesday’s blog post, promise. I managed to grab a lovely linen dress for the sweltering heat and then for the evening a lovely floaty, blush coloured chiffon gown that’s perfect for all those romantic Italian evenings. There is something truly magical about finding that perfect outfit and then just being out in a place like Rome. You really feel like you can be whoever you want to be, because let’s face it, Rome has got a reputation for glamour! That’s what I love about fashion!
A Little Bit Of Culture
When you’re in a place like Rome you really feel the history seep into you, like an old fashioned perfume that lingers and never fades! Every step I take, every cobbled alleyway, and every historic landmark reminds me of the ancient stories whispered into these very stones. I just adore all this beautiful ancient architecture, you could spend days just exploring its intricacies. This week I decided to visit the Colosseum! My dear, it’s just staggering, this monumental testament to Roman engineering, standing defiant, and reminding me of the magnificent stories of its past! As I walked around the crumbling arena, I could almost picture the gladiators fighting for their lives and the roar of the crowds filling the air. I can see why they call it the Eternal City. Rome is alive with a timeless quality, a place where the past meets the present, and you’re swept away by its sheer grandeur! I also managed to check out the Galleria Borghese – a breathtaking palace that houses some of the most incredible pieces of art! I am going to write about those this weekend as well!
Pink Tutu Rome
Now I wouldn't be true to my name, my lovely darlings, if I didn’t bring the pink to the heart of Rome, right? Well, let me tell you, it wasn’t exactly easy. The place oozes an understated chic. It was really about adding touches of it to outfits – just the perfect little accent to make everything pop!
Imagine my absolute joy at discovering a cute little shop selling tutus. I swear, you wouldn’t believe what I bought! The shopkeeper, a beautiful, bubbly Italian woman with sparkling eyes and a contagious laugh, was absolutely delighted with the prospect of my pink tutu adventures in Rome. And when I finally slipped into this amazing creation – a shimmering pink, tulle tutu, and stood in front of the mirror in the changing room – I almost screamed! I was going to have so much fun with this one!
Of course, the question everyone is going to ask is - when do you see the tutu on your blog? It’s not exactly Rome, or Roman culture so it has got to be a very special place to wear it – just a tiny, little taste of Derbyshire, and the girl who came from the heart of England and brought her ballet culture to a new and beautiful corner of the world.
The search continues! I’m still on the lookout for the most gorgeous and unique pink tutu in Rome and I just have a feeling that my adventure with pink tutus in Rome is only just beginning. And let me tell you, darlings, the adventure is going to be glorious! I know what you’re thinking! Rome is beautiful. You are right. It really is, it’s romantic and majestic, steeped in history and rich with art and culture – so what is it about the Eternal City that gets Emma so excited, what is the pull for this tutu-wearing, ballerina who calls herself Pink Tutu Rome? The answer is simple! Rome is about confidence and expressing yourself with style.
“Every street feels like a runway.” That statement just embodies the Italian sense of style! And why not wear a pink tutu – if you’re feeling it, own it! That’s what I am about – spreading the word of confidence and finding that personal style! It’s not about one type of fashion, one colour, or one type of look – It's about being true to yourself and showing your own flair and letting your personality shine! You don’t need to be in Rome to do it. Just go out and live your life to the fullest. Own who you are! Every day is an opportunity to show the world a little bit of you and I truly believe it makes everything so much better.
So my lovelies, I'll be back next week with more stories, fashion finds, and maybe just a little hint about where my pink tutu will make its grand entrance!
Until next Wednesday, I wish you happy tutus, plenty of twirls, and a whole lotta fun.
Love, Emma x
