Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1731 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday 2028-08-09

Buongiorno from the Eternal City, darling! It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back from a whirlwind journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Italy! This week I've found myself whisked away by a delightful combination of romance, fashion, and of course, ballet, because you just can't take the ballerina out of me, even on holiday!

The journey started in the quaint English countryside, with a train ride I’d been anticipating for months. There’s just something magical about chugging along the tracks, feeling the world whizz past, while I dream up ballet routines inspired by the scenery outside the window. My luggage, by the way, was a symphony in pink, a perfect reflection of my personality!

After an incredibly scenic train ride, we arrived in Rome. I couldn't believe how beautiful the city was, with ancient architecture around every corner, and a buzz of excitement in the air. It’s like stepping back in time, while simultaneously being in the heart of the modern world!

First on our agenda was a spot of serious retail therapy at Via Condotti – a must for any fashionista, even a ballerina in her favourite pink tutu! From sleek Italian leather handbags to delicate lace dresses and eye-catching pink ballet shoes (I might have just bought a new pair! Shocking, I know!), I was in retail heaven. I even picked up a gorgeous new pink silk scarf to wear to the opera – just you wait until you see the outfit!

Now, you all know I love me some opera and ballet. Well, on Friday night, I treated myself to an incredible performance of La Traviata at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The performance was nothing short of spectacular! The music was soaring, the costumes were a feast for the eyes, and the singers were sensational! I even managed to sneak a quick photo (the only exception I’m prepared to make for my rule about no pictures at the opera!) in my favourite pink tutu during the intermission, much to the amusement of the surrounding audience – you can’t be a ballerina without making a bit of a spectacle!

Then on Saturday, the fun truly began. After an utterly delicious Italian breakfast (a feast for the senses!), we took a city tour - and trust me, I needed all the energy for the day's activities! I’m obsessed with history and learning about all the little secrets and legends tucked away in a place’s history! We visited some truly spectacular ancient Roman sites, including the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

But honestly, the real magic for me was taking a stroll around Piazza Navona in the late afternoon sunlight! The fountains are breathtakingly beautiful, the gelato from Sostanza was out of this world, and the street artists filled the atmosphere with life! Honestly, a little bit of Rome in my Pink Tutu – the dream!

On Sunday, I was finally going to see my most anticipated show. You’ve all been following me for years on Pink Tutu, and you know my passion for dance. And this year, I've been on the edge of my seat anticipating the world premiere of a brand new ballet! It was staged by the illustrious Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, with a whole section devoted to beautiful choreography on pointe, and you know I was there in the front row. In pink. Of course! It was a complete whirlwind of artistry and movement – it felt like the ballet was breathing and talking right there in front of me. I am not ashamed to admit I teared up at the end. And I even got to have my picture taken with the lead ballerina! Swoon

Monday morning arrived all too soon – it was time for the obligatory tourist selfie with the Trevi Fountain, followed by a leisurely afternoon spent wandering the colourful streets of Trastevere, sipping coffee at an outdoor cafe, and watching the local families enjoy their day.

That evening we said ciao to Rome and the magical train journey took us north to Tuscany, ready for more Italian adventures! But let me tell you – Rome, you've truly stolen a piece of my heart!

Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without sharing some pink tutu inspiration! Let’s talk about the city's beautiful charm and fashion – where pink tulle can truly flourish! Think pink maxi dresses twirling with grace amongst ancient ruins, a splash of blush lipstick on cobbled streets, a delicate pink tulle ballet skirt peeking from a designer bag! I’ve been carrying my trusty pink tutu backpack with me everywhere, so when I’m tempted to try out a new move for my next video, it's right there, ready to transform a cobbled square into a Parisian ballet stage. You never know where inspiration will strike, right?

A Pink Tutu Message for All: So, my fellow tutu-lovers, as I write this from my little cabin on a moving train through the stunning Italian countryside, let’s keep the pink tutu spirit going strong! I'm dreaming of graceful ballerinas twirling their way through the city’s narrow streets, a vibrant flash of pink amongst the classic beauty of Rome. Imagine, ladies, the tutus that can blossom on the streets of Italy, a symphony of shades – bubblegum, flamingo, rose, blush. Rome is waiting, ready for a pink tutu revolution!

P.S. I've been feeling a little pinktastic in Rome. Want to learn some basic ballet moves to show off your own pink tutu in public? Don't worry – it doesn't have to be at an opera house – even the city squares in Rome could be your own stage! Comment down below to let me know! I'll put together a little tutorial!
