Buongiorno, darling! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another dose of pink-tastic travels on www.pink-tutu.com! This week, I’m whisking you off to the Eternal City - Rome, my dears!
This gorgeous city has been calling to me for ages, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. From the moment I stepped off the train, the air buzzed with energy, with the aroma of fresh espresso and the sounds of chattering locals. And let’s just say, the Italian men have certainly not lost their charm, even though I’m not really interested, I just love watching them flirt and try to impress the ladies.
Travelling in Style (And a Tutu!)
As usual, I’m rocking my signature pink tutu. I’m sure you know how much I love a good train journey, and there’s something especially glamorous about chugging through the Italian countryside in a flowing tulle masterpiece! Thankfully, my trusty travel bag – emblazoned with a pink tutu appliqué – carried all my essentials.
Ballet Under the Tuscan Sun
My first stop had to be the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Can you believe it? This incredible venue hosts some of the most talented ballet dancers in the world! You’ll find me right in the front row, mesmerized by their breathtaking performances and grace. My ballet heart absolutely exploded! The show, Romeo and Juliet with a new, exciting modern interpretation was truly exquisite, I'm a total fangirl!
The music, the emotion, the artistry… It truly transported me. The costumes were stunning! Imagine layers of swirling silk and tulle – absolutely breathtaking.
Fashionable Forays Through the City
The Colosseum! Of course! You simply cannot visit Rome without seeing the mighty Colosseum. I can’t describe the feeling of standing before this monumental piece of history, a symbol of the grandeur and strength of the Roman Empire. It was truly breathtaking and it reminded me of just how much history there is in Italy, it’s so inspiring.
I popped into a quaint boutique near the Trevi Fountain, where I found this gorgeous pair of blush pink stilettoes with delicate lace detail. Let’s just say my shoe collection was crying out for them!
Speaking of the Trevi Fountain, my dears, let’s just say the pink flamingo I purchased earlier that day just couldn’t resist the charm of the cascading waters and took a dip. The pink flamingo ended up being a little too heavy, and fell into the Trevi Fountain with a mighty splash. Oh dear, all the locals thought I was totally mad, you can't toss flamingoes in the Trevi Fountain! The pink flamingo now resides on the mantelpiece of my hotel, much to the relief of the fountain, I think!
Eating and Living La Dolce Vita
You can’t go to Rome without indulging in the local cuisine. From the mouth-watering pasta dishes to the fresh seafood and aromatic gelato – oh my, the gelato, so many delicious flavours. My favourite spot was a cute trattoria tucked away on a cobblestone street where they served the most divine creamy tiramisu. Delicious!
In between ballet shows, my days were spent strolling through the lively, sun-drenched squares and admiring the stunning Renaissance architecture.
Pink Tutu Vibes in the City
It’s not hard to see why Rome is known as the Eternal City. It’s filled with such vibrant history, culture and undeniable charm. As I wander through the cobbled streets, surrounded by terracotta rooftops and ancient ruins, it’s clear that there’s a magical, timeless quality about this place.
Now, who’s with me on getting Rome to embrace the pink tutu trend? I can just imagine the city decked out in layers of soft pink tulle. Think about it! Imagine all those delicious gelato vendors and quaint cafes with a splash of pink.
