Ciao Bella!
This is Emma, and you’ve stumbled upon my Pink Tutu Rome weekly blog! Today we're in Rome, Italy. That's right, The Eternal City! It's been my lifelong dream to visit the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Colosseum and today, well, today, darling, it's happening!
(My phone buzzed, I checked it… **'Mum’s on her way! She just posted on Insta "My little Pink Tutu traveller is off on her big adventure… I am SO jealous!”)
My Dream!
You all know my ultimate aim in life is to inspire the world to dance in pink tutus. Well, how better to start than with the cradle of western civilisation?! And how fabulous does pink look against a backdrop of ancient stone? Swoon!
(You all know how I feel about pink. Pink isn’t just a colour. It’s a statement. It’s an attitude. It’s everything I aspire to be – **confident, powerful, beautiful, strong, gentle, glamorous, whimsical! Yes, it’s PINK!)
And oh darling, just let me tell you, Rome… oh Rome… it is utterly divine! We're staying in the Trastevere area – charming, full of cobbled streets and beautiful buildings with twinkling fairy lights (and yummy restaurants of course)!
(I'm always on the hunt for cute boutiques and vintage shops, so Trastevere is the perfect spot for me. And they even have a **pink tutu shop! Don’t even get me started, ladies, on the amazing shoes – pink stilettos with red roses and delicate pink ballerinas with tiny glitter embellishments, so perfectly on-point with my “Rome, darling” look!)
Travel Goals!
I love to travel by train! It’s so romantic, so much more personal than flying, you can gaze out the window and imagine your next big adventure, and let's be honest - there's nowhere quite like the view from a train window, particularly when it's going through the Italian countryside! And with Italy, it’s just magic!
(Who could resist the allure of Mamma Mia train scenes – but minus the singalong and dodgy dance routines? Sorry! Not gonna lie - that film soundtrack was stuck in my head all day! I’m off to find me a Greek taverna, though! ? )
*(You know how I feel about trains! I even had a pink tutu outfit for a journey once. Yep! I once took a 21 hour train ride and got changed into my tutu for my trip across America – don't ask me how I managed to fit it all in my carry on case – *she quipped and winked – But this, my darling, is my favourite part of travel… exploring! )
(You just can't beat getting off a train at your chosen station and then letting fate guide you. A lovely thing, indeed… This little beauty is a bit of an antique but it’s *my antique, *she confided, beaming as she tapped the bright pink tutu . She pointed it at her viewers. It was on, just over a simple pale pink T-shirt! A Parisian-chic style as she put it). The pink tutus make any city come to life, she insisted, looking up at her camera.
*(By the way, I was asked how I fund all this travelling. I'm a working dancer, as many of you know, and I often make up choreographed sequences. You may not think it's a glamorous lifestyle – and you'd be right – there’s an awful lot of hard work involved – * she smiled, shaking her head. She winked and said, it’s true what they say… nothing ventured, nothing gained! I’m actually in a theatre production, playing The Sugar Plum Fairy. I love being on stage, creating stories and emotions for the audience. But nothing can match the excitement and wonder of seeing the world and being a tutu ambassador in new places!).
(My London stage work was SO last season – I need fresh inspiration…* she declared, giving a little spin to her audience and that is what I am here for… I just love this pink, it goes so well with Rome… **a perfect combination!).
Let’s Get Inspired!
What better place than Rome, darling, to embrace that La Dolce Vita attitude, don't you think? Now I’m planning my schedule... but, darling… it's hard! So many fabulous things to do!
We have to be up early in the morning (for my hair, of course!) so I can post a snap to Insta and my little ballet shoes have to be absolutely immaculate – I hate dusty ballet shoes! She shuddered, I like everything crisp and new. I do my thing, and that means staying as glamorous as I possibly can! That's what's so wonderful about this new stage of my life… you all know I'm all about self-expression – I like being creative and inspiring!
And in my pink tutu of course! Oh I am so excited to find some fabulous places to take some snaps! What an inspiration – it’s going to be legendary! I mean come on! she winked mischievously It's a beautiful city, isn’t it?
Ballet and Pink Perfection!
We just HAVE to find a show for later tonight. Oh darling, don't you know - this is an ancient city bursting with ballets. In the 1930s, dancers performed at the Opera di Roma - so sophisticated, such a glamorous life. There are so many different styles of dancing that have originated from Italy… the Italian Baroque Dance style and all its grace! There are also, I just know there will be, classical shows! They all look so magical, I've just been watching the online video and, I can't wait. I am in Rome to soak up all things fashion and dance – I just know this place will make the most divine pink-tutu photo shoots she beamed! And I must, I just must, capture these wonderful streets and landmarks. I'll have you all longing for this city and then we can explore together, she declared with a wink, making her viewers swoon and want to hop on the next plane.
(We may have had some hiccups during the day… and had to *re-do a few scenes * as a very, very embarrassing event happened to our luggage…. But darling, life is just so much more enjoyable when you laugh! Don't worry about the details, darling, I’m too busy having a **pink tutu adventure in Rome! … so I’m off! … La Dolce Vita!
And, of course, I can’t forget – Happy Wednesday to all you Pink Tutu Lovers! – Remember: It's a new week – go forth, be your fabulous selves, wear your pink tutu, and have fun with it.
And before I forget: Check out my next blog in a week's time: The Roman Colosseum. I've heard rumours about an amazing ballet performance! - you do know that my love for tutus also extends to ballet, darling!
*Catch you soon! *
Ciao!
